Bread

Monday, October 08, 2012

This time of year I think bread is my downfall. It is like my body is telling me to feed it...like a bear getting ready for his winter nap..stock up on the food and especially the more fattening things like bread..It is like I crave it and think of it constantly..I've been trying to keep chewing sugarfree gum and eating an apple during the day when I get the bread craving..I refuse to give into this..This is leading into baking season and I do love to bake but I'm going to stand firm and not bake this year except for a fundraiser for my art guild..and let the DILs doing the baking for the holidays this year.

I WILL STAND FIRM.

You have so much better control than I do, but I did get into a pair of jeans for my trip I haven't worn in a couple of years.

warm or fresh baked bird is something i will crave at this time of year, mostly because when it gets cold i want something warm. it is espcially good with soup.

I love bread too and I don't eat it very often but every once in a while, I do have to eat some. I agree with doinitright, this is the rest of your life kind of life style and we only live once so bake and eat just a little and give the rest away. emoticon

Oh yes....homemade bread with homemade strawberry jam...mmmm... and I have a neighbor who seems to think it's her duty to bring me a loaf of her fresh homemade whole wheat bread when she bakes...it is incredibly yummy....

I just try not to do it too often. When I do, I try to have a "plan" in mind so there are not bunches of leftovers to tempt me. For example I will plan to make french toast for the kids breakfast or dinner rolls out of most of the dough (easy to freeze).

Or....if I must....one day of bread with every single meal and snack and then I'm overly satisfied and done with it!!

What makes bread your downfall? Is it that you just can!t stop at one slice? Is it what you put on it? I prefer cream cheese and home made jam. Remember this is a LIFE STYLE. If Fall calls you to bake, bake! Work it into your plan, then give the extra loaf to a neighbor or relative or friend. You can do it!

computer woes

Sunday, October 07, 2012

I sometimes think like this little cartoon..we would get so much more exercise if we could pedal to keep the computer on..and with the trouble I've had today with my computer I've wanted to chunk it out the window..

I have incredimail for my email account and yesterday got a strange email from someone asking me to add them to their group...I have a yahoo group for hand stitchers and looking at the addy I couldn't figure out who it was and why they didn't sign their name to the email..well that is when the trouble started..probably a virus..but nothing was harmed but I was getting all my emails over and over and over again..same ones until it was overwhelming my server..so had to uninstall incredimail and reinstall it..and had to go through my computer to see if I had a virus..thankfully no virus that I could tell and reinstalling my mail seems to have done the trick..

Got 40mintues of walking in and 10 cups of water for my 5% Awesome A team..and so enjoying this cooler weather.

You've got a good point there!!! I never watch TV except when riding recumbent bike - sure wish I could ride bike and Spark!
Today was especially frustrating as all day long internet was slow, then got to the place where I could get nothing.
I am on booster from son's next door and I think kids use all the strength because after midnight I am fine. But I want to go to bed!!!
Sure hope you have no more problems!!!
These computers can be very time- consuming, can't they?

Hot Springs Art's and Crafts Fair

Friday, October 05, 2012

index.htm

Early this morning my one DIL who lives closest to me and I drove over to Hot Springs, AR and met the other DIL and all 3 of us went to the Hot Springs Art's and Crafts show.. This is the 44th annual show they have put on. It is HUGE!! And sorry I forgot to take my camera..but it has 5 big buildings and then a huge barn where booths are set up..It really can become overwhelming going to it as there is so much to look at and so much to buy. I was so good and didn't buy one thing..One of the DIL's bought hair bows for Miss Molly (youngest DGD) and other bought some Halloween/Fall yard decorations..One was so big that the people who had the booth said they would wrap it for her so it wouldn't scuff her car going home but they needed an hour so we left and went down the road to a terrific Mexican food cafe called Taco Mama...the healthiest Mexican food you will ever eat..the same woman who owns it has a salad and sandwish shop next door to it which is one of my favorite places to eat but the DILs like Mexican and so I got a chicken taco..so yummy..Then we went back to the craft show and by then there were no more parking spots available so we drove around to the back gate and they left me in the vehicle and ran in and got it..almost got in troble for being pulled over to the side of the driveway but I explained to the craft posse what was happening and he allowed it..then after a short trip to the book store and Hobby Lobby we got home right before the rain set in..And good thing I didn't spend any money except for my meal which was under $10..(got to save my pennies for my trips next year)..

But had a great time and so enjoy these 2 young women...I call them both my daughter-in-loves...My son's are so blest.

Wow the craft fair sounds like it would be very overwhelming trying to see everything in a day. Sounds like you had an awesome time though! I also love Mexican food, but seldom eat there because I just can't pass up the chips and salsa :-)

Early Christmas Projects

Thursday, October 04, 2012

These are the stockings I finished a week ago and have already given to the youngest son and family to have in time for Christmas.

And this is the table runner. These were felt kits that come complete with everything..I still need to iron the runner but so glad it is finished.

Now I will be getting on with my rug hooking.

They are all so cute. I need to start on some Christmas stuff. The Craft Cottage is going to have an Open House the first Saturday in December. Hope a lot of people will show up. Some members are already putting out some things for Christmas. I have my Christmas and Winter design fleece lap throws all displayed together.
