Don't hurry-No worry!

Sunday, January 13, 2013

Sometimes we get in such a hurry that we worry we might not finish something on time or we get so stressed as we want things to happen quickly. If you ever notice things in nature..there is no worry or hurry about them. We need to learn a lesson from things in nature and slow down and smell the roses.

You know when I get in a hurry, I drop things and accidents happen so am still learning to slow down and quit worrying.

We also need to remember that we didn't put this weight on overnight and so it won't come off overnight. I've found that taking the weight off takes longer than it does to put it on.

That is true about the weight going on much easier than it comes off so let us all learn a lesson from that! It is not a race, just a different way of life forever!
Thanks for the reminder. It is a great blog.

It is much harder now to lose weight than it did 10 years ago when I lost and weighted a good weight for me. Then I also lost it very quickly and that isn't happening now.

Doctor's advice

Saturday, January 12, 2013

Q: Doctor, I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life. Is this true?
A: Heart only good for so many beats, and that it... Don't waste on exercise. Everything wear out eventually. Speeding up heart not make you live longer; it like saying you extend life of car by driving faster. Want to live longer? Take nap.

Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake?
A: Oh no. Wine made from fruit. Brandy distilled wine, that mean they take water out of fruity bit so you get even more of goodness that way. Beer also made of grain. Bottom up!

Q: How can I calculate my body/fat ratio?
A: Well, if you have body and you have fat, your ratio one to one.. If you have two body, your ratio two to one.

Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise program?
A: Can't think of single one, sorry. My philosophy: No pain...good!

Q: Aren't fried foods bad for you?
A: YOU NOT LISTENING! Food fried in vegetable oil. How getting more vegetable be bad?

Q : Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft around the middle?
A: Oh no! When you exercise muscle, it get bigger. You should only be doing sit-up if you want bigger stomach.

Q: Is chocolate bad for me?
A: You crazy?!? HEL-LO-O!! Cocoa bean! Another vegetable! It best feel-good food around!

Q: Is swimming good for your figure?
A: If swimming good for figure, explain whale to me.

Q: Is getting in shape important for my lifestyle?
A: Hey! 'Round' is shape!

Well... I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had about food and diets.

And remember:
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!"

AND.....

For those of you who watch what you eat, here's the final word on nutrition and health. It's a relief to know the truth after all those conflicting nutritional studies.

1. The Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

3. The Chinese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

4. The Italians drink a lot of red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans...

5. The Germans drink a lot of beer and eat lots of sausages and fats and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

CONCLUSION:Eat and drink what you like. Speaking English is apparently what kills you.

All I'm going to be

Friday, January 11, 2013

I have come to realize that life is a constant growing and learning experience. I've been growing and learning so much here at SP. Life is a journey and my journey is taking me to better places.

Did ok on food today..not so good on exercise. Dig get 15 minute walk in today is all. And did work a little on my studio organization..and got some ironing done. But still a long way to go on the organization yet.

Weather is going to get bad and not coming from a weather report but from my achy joints..So moving much slower. Tomorrow hopefully will be a better day.

I love that saying! You always find the most emoticon pictures to make your point! You are so right about life being a journey. I like to think back on mine, and reflect on the "crossroads" and think about what direction each of those decisions has taken me.

I hope you have a wonderful day tomorrow!

one step at at time

Wednesday, January 09, 2013

This journey here at Sparkpeople takes one step at a time. I didn't do as well today. Took a step back in the dieting..went over my calorie count by 100 calories but I know it is one step at a time. I wouldn't have gone over except I had 2 cups of hot cocoa and one would have been fine and not boosted me over.

I did fine on the exercise even though it has rained all day. I walked for 30 minutes but didn't do arm exercises. I did work on organizing my studio. But still have a lot to do in there.

I also cut some wool for a new rug. Someone had given me a teal colored blanket that a mouse had eaten. I had it washed and ready to cut. Blankets and coats are usually too thick for some rugs but loved the color so much that I plan to use it for a background on a rug soon. I won't do this new rug with it as want to do a nice spring or summer rug with the teal. The rug I'm beginning is kind of an autumn theme with a crow and pumpkins so need a darker background for it.

Tomorrow is my volunteer day at the gallery so may not be here much to post. Hope to make more progress in the dieting and exercise though. I did weigh this morning and back down 2lbs...(after gaining 5 during the holidays) so doing ok.I just need to remember one step at a time and one day at a time.

I believe that you will do whatever you set your mind to. I haven't gotten in a habit of tracking my food everyday and I know I need to along with exercise.
