Back a few years ago we had our pick up truck stolen from under our carport right by our bedroom window. We had some wood working equipment in the back. We were told that we would probably never recover the truck and the sheriff's department at that time was in the midst of changing to a new sheriff and deputies so they really didn't do much to try to find it. Finally after about 2 weeks (after we had bought a new truck) a local hunter found our truck stuck on a stump on an old wood road. A friend of mine whose family owns a wrecker service retrieved it and brought it back to us none the worse for wear but minus the wood working equipment.

Then about a year ago someone came to the back of our property where the road ends at our property line and stole the entire gas tank off our boat. Cost a little to replace the tank..then about a week ago someone stole a can of mixed gas for our log splitter..Now it wasn't that much but the thing is if someone was that hard up for gasoline, they could have knocked on our door and asked for some and we would have gladly given it to them but to outright steal things. Well today hubby found our fiberglass step ladder, a metal stand he uses for his planer, an old window air conditioner and an old grinder were missing. So while I was at the art guild meeting today, he called the sheriff's deparment and they sent out a deputy. Hubby told them he was putting up game cameras to find out who was stealing from us..strangely they left no foot prints or car tracks as we had rain right before these things came up missing so there should have been tracks..so we are thinking they are coming through the woods (we live in a national forest area)..we thought at first it was some men who lived on the road behind us but the deputy said they had been in jail for 2 weeks so it couldn't have been them so thinking it is another new neighbor who is doing this. We are on neighborhood watch but that doesn't deter them from stealing. We think mainly since most was metal things they took this time that they are selling for scrap metal..We are now doing evening, night and early morning rounds and the cameras will be installed tomorrow afternoon. So much for feeling save in the country..wonder if Armed and dangerous means anything to anyone anymore.

Hope the cameras work and that insurance can replace all the worth. Our county metal reclaiming place had been put on alert a while back for things missing. I believe some were caught that way. The Bible says when the thief is found he is to pay seven fold. May that happen! emoticon

What a pain that you have to go through that trouble because others can't leave what doesn't belong to them alone. I hope you find out who is doing this, and that the sheriff will follow through.

Oh my goodness, that is so crazy and you must be furious! I sure do hope that you can identify these culprits on camera. And can the sheriff so some occasional drive by's or something as a deterrent

Leg and back problems

Sunday, February 03, 2013

I am thinking my back is giving me fits but it is making it difficult to walk. It has been hurting in the groin area and across the thigh..It is my leg that has the hip replacement. It is bothersome and has done this many times before..makes me wonder if something isn't right with that replacement..but did manage to get a 15 minute walk in though much slower than normal.

Also helped hubby make venison-pork breakfast sausage..It is so much leaner and tastier than store bought. Also still working on my table topper. Guess I will go watch the "stupid bowl"..like the commercials so will stitch while I watch.

Have you talked to your doctor about that pain? I have a bad SI joint, which causes pain in my lower back. My doc sent me to Physical Therapy for two 3 month sessions, and they worked my core a ton to help keep the skeletal portions in place. I can always tell when I have gone too long without doing the strengthening exercises. Pain is never a good sign, and usually our body's way of saying stop!

Awwwwwwwww I hope you get to feeling better. If not, are you going to contact your doctor who did the replacement? The super bowl is fun when it is teams you care about. I love venison, but we don't get much anymore.

I agree, it is the stupid bowl! I can hear it from another room and I might watch parts of it later. It sounds like you might have sciatica and sometimes stretches specifically for that really help. I know how it feels to have back problems and it is really painful. Hope you feel better soon.

Blooming Crocus

Saturday, February 02, 2013

I saw someone's post that since they moved to the south that they don't have crocus..well I live in the south and here are a few of mine that are blooming..they probably don't get as big as some in the north but they do bloom every year and they tend to spread a little very year..the purple ones are bigger and have not begun to bloom yet.

Busy day..errands in town this morning and then have a book I just cannot put down so have read some on it and also stitched a little on my table topper. Got a walk in and helped a little with the garden clean up..we had to remove the dried asparagus stalks and okra stalks and then got the small section where we plant the lettuce tilled. Hubby is using the big tiller now to till the rest of the garden. We do the lettuce bed with a small old mantis tiller..great for small spots..I'm thinking of dragging down some old barrels and filling with soil and leaves and planting potatoes. Our soil is very rocky except for our garden spot and we usually don't have room for potatoes in it so thinking this may work. I've seen where people grow them in old tires and even a laundry basket or compost pile so thinking we have some old barrels I could use..will be checking it out tomorrow during "stupid bowl"..sorry..I know many of you enjoy watching but just not my cup of tea..I do like the commercials and sometimes it is worth it for that but used to love the old Bud commercials with the frog..or the dog ones last year took the cake for me..but then I guess I could watch the puppy bowl..would probably enjoy it more..and also if I do the potato growing bins, then will get some much needed exercise..

The Bud commercials were always my favorite! So very creative :-)

I was thinking I might get some container gardens going this spring, but I may be going out of town for 4 or 5 weeks this summer. I guess it will be one more year before I start gardening again.

Time at last

Friday, February 01, 2013

I think I have been too busy the later part of this week..Had art guild board meeting on Wednesday and then worked at the gallery yesterday. Other days I've been busy cooking down figs to make jam or preserves..After today's pot, will only have 2 more days of cooking what is left in the freezer.

I've been getting in 15-20minutes walk time in each day..still not good on the exercises though. Food choices have been fine and kept within my calorie range..I will weigh tomorrow so will get an accurate count on my weight to start the 5% challenge.

I've still not picked up my hook yet. but did start a pre-printed table topper in cross stitch. It is a rose boarder..And still working on my studio organization. Need to get it finished so will work between stirring my figs today.

Remember tomorrow is ground hog day Wonder if he will see his shadow...certainly hope not as I'm ready for spring. crocus are blooming is all..but so ready for the other flowers..

You ARE very busy! That is so rough but it sounds like you are doing well - getting some walking in - and you are cross stitching! I am jealous as I have not stitched in such a long time and I miss it!
