I have found that I need to SIMPLIFY my life and here is what I've learned:

1. Each day is a new day. It is a day to start completely over. I can't do anything to change the past and the future isn't here yet, so I need to take time early in the day to decide what is important. I need to realize that my meal planning and my exercise are 2 of the most important things I need to plan. I've decided to keep a small notebook with me or within reach to jot down those things that tend to take me off track. It may be something that really needs to be done but that is keeping me from the important thing I may be doing at that time. I plan to also use it to jot a creative spark I may get also

2. Daily meditation needs to be part of my daily planning. I feel I need to commune more with God and 15 minutes won't dig too much into my time. I don't want to feel that I'm relegating God to just 15 minutes but sometimes I don't do that so if I plan for 15 minutes it may be more if I really do take that much time. It will teach me consistency.

3. Reducing clutter should be one of the high priorities in my life. I remember when we had to clean out my mother's house when we moved her to a nursing home and she didn't have near the clutter I have. I would hate to think of what my kids would go through if they had to come and declutter my house. I plan to give things to them now and enjoy the expressions on their faces instead of waiting until I die for them to get things when I won't be here to enjoy their joy at receiving items. I also need to plan a good will. And I need to have a yardsale or 2 and also list things on freecycle and give to goodwill.

4. I want to spend more time doing the things I really enjoy and spending time with those people I really enjoy being with.

No more excuses!!!

Looks like I'm not alone in the top priority being to get rid of clutter and getting what I keep organized.

I also want to simplify my life. We are home for 8 days and I want to get back to a couple of decluttering projects I was working on 9 days ago

I also have got to get into my daily meditation. It something very special for me. I need to finish decluttering my little meditation and reading area.

I love the reducing clutter goal. I've been trying to do this all my life, having been raised by "packrats." The old farmhouse, garage, barn and outbuildings - are stuffed with stuff. We've been slowly dejunking it for the past two years, but it will take many more before it's simply cluttered. Even Mom doesn't know why she kept everything, and she feels so good when we clear out a space.

Good luck with your goals!

"Perfectionism does not lead to perfection."

To succeed, you need to grow, learn and expand your world. Perfectionism limits your growth and takes away your chances of finding a more excellent pat.

Many times we want our weight loss to show perfectionism and yet we only sabotage ourselves in the process. If we don't reach the place where we think we should be perfect, we sometimes give completely up and quit. But we shouldn't think of dieting as trying to get to perfection. We need to look at this not necessarily as losing weight but as getting healthier to live life to the fullest.

Each of us is as different as the snowflakes and yet no snowflake is completely perfect, just as no person is completely perfect. Sometimes we expect too much and when we don't get to that level of perfection, we think "what's the use." Perfection can come at a high cost, not only to our health but to our mental and emotional state as well.

Let's strive not for perfection but to enjoy the ride and concentrate on getting healthier so we can enjoy the ride.

Those who matter in our lives!!

Saturday, January 03, 2009

" There comes a point in your life when you realize:
Who matters.
Who never did.
Who won't anymore.
And who always will.
So don't worry about people from your past, there is a reason they didn't make it to your future."

I don't know where this quote comes from or who wrote it, but I had kept it because it really makes sense. At this time of year we prioritize the things in our lives that are the most important to us and it should also include those people we surround ourselves with. I had a difficult time at Thanksgiving with one of my daughter-in-laws. I've tried and tried to please her and it just doesn't seem to work. And each time, I get my feelings hurt. Well I've decided to take this quote to heart and not worry about trying to please her or anyone for that matter except the ones who really matter. I'm lucky in that I'm married to my best friend. I also have one wonderful, sweet daughter-in-law who is more like a daughter to me. I have another daughter-in-law who I'm growing to love as my own as well. I am so blest!!

Cracked tooth

Friday, January 02, 2009

This is a picture of a healthy tooth. Mine aren't so healthy. For one thing I have rheumatoid arthritis and know I have week joints and bones. Another thing after years of some of the meds for RA I have an ulcer and acid reflux. The meds I take for it reduces calcium and also causes weak teeth. I go to the dentist once a year to have them cleaned. This past September the dentist noticed I had 2 cracked teeth. They were not bad and since I do not have dental insurance, I decided to wait on getting them capped. Well I figured if the tooth went ahead and broke off, then I could be out the $800 to get it fixed. Well my tooth cracked open this evening and it was/is too late to call the dentist. It is a pretty large crack and hurts when I bite down. It will have to be repaired now. It hasn't broken off yet and I'm hoping it doesn't. I'm just praying I can make it through this weekend and can see the dentist on Monday. It might be good for my dieting in that I don't think I'm going to be able to chew. ...so guess it will be clear soups and yogurt. Also won't be able to talk much as the air hitting it hurts it..so good on my husband's ears.

Baggy Pants

Thursday, January 01, 2009

You know I never notice the weightloss on me until I get a look at pictures I've taken. I then realize how much I really have lost and what it looks like to others. I have refused to buy new pants in that these loser ones feel so comfy but then I take a look at myself in a picture and realize I need to buy me a new pair of pants. A friend of mine informed me that it looked like a baggy diaper that a baby wears when they get "full"...well it is no longer full so think I will be shopping soon. I used to hate shopping as I would get so discouraged having to buy such a large size or sometimes go up a size. Now think it will feel good to buy a size smaller for a change. And think it is time for a bra as well. I also found out this week that a favorite pair of shoes I have no longer fit and in fact were hurting my knee. So guess I've even lost in my feet. So it seems I will be in the market soon for a whole new wardrobe. Yipee!!!
