Figured out my problem

Sunday, March 10, 2013

This pretty well explains my problem in cleaning and organizing. I have been this way since I was a kid. I was an avid reader when young and we had a nice collection of books....so while dusting I would wind up reading some of the books. Same with my studio. I have good intentions of cleaning and organizing and then find something I had forgotten about that I wanted to do or finish so start doing that as well. Not sure it is the ADD or procrastination but it sometimes becomes a problem.

I am trying to do some deep cleaning. Nothing like getting the stale smells of winter out of the house. I did completely clean my refrigerator yesterday and it just sparkles. I'm starting on my laundry room this afternoon. Now this room houses 2 freezers, 2 water heaters, washer, dryer and one wall of shelving. This shelf was built originally to hold some of my craft supplies but now most holds excess home canned jars of veggies and fruit from our garden. But it is mainly the craft stuff I need to go through and get rid of about half of it. I do know when I start on it, I will find things I want to do instead of cleaning in there. It may take me several days but have decided to put my mind to doing it and not stop until finished.

But I am leaving my studio until last as it really is a problem with me and my procrastination.

Awesome, Barbara! Maybe take a clipboard in there with you, so you can write down all the things you find in there that you want to do.....and then keep on cleanin'! I love spring cleaning!

I totally understand. But think how nice it will be when you are done, and who knows - you might find something almost done, just add that last little color or hem and it will be done. You can finish some UFOs and be that much ahead.

I usually just find new projects to start. :)

Ahhhh! I can relate to this! My craft room is in a crazy mess right now. I guess it would be bettered described as organized chaos. I can find what I need or want but I need to spend an afternoon getting it in order! And some (not all) of my cross stitch stuff is still packed from when we moved three years ago. AGH!

Have a wonderful weekend.

Doing what is right

Saturday, March 09, 2013

We can apply this saying to our travels here on Sparkpeople. Doing what is right is eating the proper foods in the proper amounts. Doing what is right is getting the exercise and fresh air we need. Doing what is right is moving more and sitting less. Doing what is right is stretching as much as possible every single day. Doing what is right is choosing to be happy and not miserable and moaning our situation. Doing what is right is getting in touch with friends and loved ones when we would rather not. Doing what is right is keeping our mouths shut when we really really want to tell someone off. Doing what is right is meeting someone's needs that may never expect it. Doing what is right is thinking positive and not negative. Doing what is right is doing the right things for ourselves for a change!!!

Week wrap up

Friday, March 08, 2013

The one thing I have always done and keeps me in a really good happy frame of mind is keeping positive thoughts and positive people around me. I have found with my emoticon A team for the 5% challenge that I have positive people to help me along my journey here. I do ok in the diet and eating healthy and drinking water but will have to get more positive attitude about exercise.

Well written! What a great blog about the power of positive thoughts! Stress is a key for me. I can be so positive for others but give myself such a hard time. I am working on the same thing and turning to positive to help me through tough times. Very inspiring and hopeful blog. I am a newbie to the Awesome A team and evryone has been so encouraging-like a breathe of fresh air. I can't believe how much support the team offers. emoticon we are emoticon emoticon

bad one

Thursday, March 07, 2013

I have been watching Betty White's new comedy show and just love the antics those old people play on young people. Wouldn't you just for once like to pull a prank like the cartoon above..heehee.

Anyway I'm on day 6 of this week's 5% challenge and this is mainly the last question.
6) Do you need some motivation or advice?
I get a lot of motivation and advice from all my friends here on SP. Our Awesome A team is so encouraging and helpful. My DIL who is on a health kick right now has also been helping me some as well. We share recipes and she shows me new exercises she has been doing. So it really helps to have people to motivate and help me along.

Another motivation is knowing that if I lose I can go to smaller size clothes and also will reward myself for a monthly massage as well. But the biggest motivation and reward is getting healthy and stronger as a result.

5) What can you improve upon?

Wednesday, March 06, 2013

I can really try to get more exercise and push myself more in this area. I do ok on eating within calorie range and eating healthy foods so mainly just need work on exercise.

(I'm more than halfway finished with my hooked rug. We got the garden disked again and hubby worked on removing the old chicken house. It has been a really quiet day. We did find out that one of the granddaughters..the one in Texas we never see...had surgery. She had a terrible underbite and they broke her jaw and realigned it. Her mom which does not want anything to do with us never called. We only found out through other DIL who found out from her daughter on Facebook.)

Sorry about the rift in the family. :( That must be so hard. We have one too in our family (me and my sister - haven't talked for 2-3 years), and I know it makes my mom so sad sometimes.

CAROLJ35 3/6/2013 9:35PM

Don't we all have areas that need improvement???
Remember the 10 minute rule - exercise at least 10 minutes per day. Just march in place in front of the sink - or go up and down the stairs a few times - if you have stairs.
Don't be too hard on yourself.

Exercise is definitely important. Maybe work on increasing it in chunks, like Sonya said. I think that's a great idea.

You can do it, Barbara!

Take the exercise in 10 minute chunks.

Sorry to hear there is issues around family and not knowing about it. That is always hard.
Good luck with the exercise. Take the first step and the others will follow. Even 10 minutes is great!
