Own yourself first

Friday, March 22, 2013

Many times, especially when we are young, we are looking for someone to love and to be loved by that special someone. But you really need to learn how to love yourself first before looking for something else. Only by loving yourself can you truly love others. You can control yourself but not others. Many times we look for that perfect "someone" but yet noone seems to live up to being "perfect"..There is only One who was perfect.

Stress

Thursday, March 21, 2013

Stress can be a killer. And not only that but it can really make you sick and bring on things you normally would not have. We need to learn to control our stress by letting things go.

When hubby and I married, we combined his 2 sons and my 1...I had been a "perfect" housekeeper...and liked everything in its place and super clean. I really took it to extremes. When taking on 2 more boys (age 6 and 9 at the time) and a husband that was more into family than keeping house...well let me tell you I was in alot of stress. I was working and trying to do it all and be a mother to 3 little boys. Well I came to the end of my rope one day and my boss who was a wonderful lady and mentor sat me down and said "let it go"...she said I could either have a happy family or a neat home...it hit me and made me realize that there is more to life than just cleaning house and working...and at that point family became first on my timeline. It was so freeing and the stress over keeping the house neat just disappeared. So we need to stop and think about what is more important in our lives and put that first and forget the rest.

I have less tress in my life now than I ever had. I had to learn that you can't fix someone else, only they can.

I agree but mess makes me stress! I want to let it go but I remember how junky our old house got when I didn't keep it up and how upsetting it was to me. Fortunately ours is grown so it really isn't too bad.

Yup, one of the key things in reducing stress is deciding which things to let go of...I can't do it all as well as I'd like to and trying to is a killer. Another thing I find important to remember is that I need to reassess this periodically (or frequently when I feel stressed) to constantly make adjustments to keep everything in balance and the stress level low.

Great message and reminder.

Driving Me Crazy!!

Wednesday, March 20, 2013

You hear the expression that "my kids or my husband is driving me crazy" or that (blank-you fill it in) is driving me crazy.

Well it only happens if you let them or it do it...

((note on diet...didn't do that well today. Ate way over my calorie limit but that is ok. We all make mistakes some days. Got some walking in though)

Blest

Tuesday, March 19, 2013

I have been so blest all my life. Sometimes I think my life is charmed. I had terrific parents and a wonderful sister and we lived comfortably growing up. I married too young and that marriage didn't last but 5 years but was blest with a son. I met my present husband when son was 5 years old. God sent this man especially to me. He was raising 2 sons so when we married we combined them into one big family. Raising 3 sons was a challenge but we always had our own house, food on the table and clothes on their back. It wasn't fancy but was a happy family. The 3 sons are grown now and have families of their own. All are healthy and happy and the sons all have terrific jobs. Hubby and I managed our money well and had all paid off so we both retired at an early age. We don't live fancy still but we do live healthy and are very happy and content. Both of us are pretty healthy even though I have RA. We both know where our blessings come from and thank God daily.

It is so important to feel gratitude for what we've been able to accomplish and earn. I too am incredibly grateful for what has been sent my way. Even the things I thought were curses, at the time, have turned out to be blessings! Time has a way of doing that!

Mistakes

Sunday, March 17, 2013

Denying our mistakes has become a thing many people do today. All you have to do is listen to the news. People mess up and blame others. Sometimes it makes me sick to see how other put the blame on someone else or something else. Lawsuits abound and some are so stupid...Why can't we face up to our mistakes. Noone in this world is perfect except God and when we deny them, we only lose out. We could learn from our mistakes instead playing the blame game.

Today I did ok on diet and exercise. I'm still continuing to stretch 10 minutes a day and oh does it make be feel better. Made some soy wax candles in tea cups today and have still be hooking the small round rug. Hope your St. Patty's day was perfect and blest.

I am so glad you've pointed out this issue!! I completely agree with you. We human being needs to learn from our mistake instead of blaming other. As long as we are blaming others and not admitting our own mistake we can never learn and keep making same mistake.

How true it is....it's good to have a reminder though that we do need to just admit it, learn something and move on! Thanks!

If we learn from our mistakes and then just go on instead of dewelling on what might have been, life can be so much better.
