Big girl

I know this is kind of strange posting but when I was a teen and up into my 30's I had a small behind for the rest of me. Just not much of one to speak of. At the end of my 30's I was diagnosed with RA and my life became more seditary which has not been a good thing. I didn't give into the pain that much but the joints just wouldn't let me do the things I had been doing. In the process I began to gain weight. I went up to a much larger size set of "drawers"...I have noticed now since being back to SP for a little over a year that I have lost inches in the rear...and my "drawers" have gotten so baggy. I had some smaller sized ones saved that had been my mothers which she never wore in her later years at the nursing home (diaper time) so I had put them back in my dresser and pulled them out the other day and to my wonder they fit!!!My mom was a tiny woman but she did have a bigger rear end than I did when I was younger..noticed too that this last 5% challenge that I had lost inches there so it is working for me now. I may be slow on losing the pounds but certainly seeing the results in the inches.

    emoticon emoticon emoticon I had a problem when I was a teen and the Doctor though it might be RA but it was not, it was a mystery that was never solved. I am in better health now but not perfect health. This site has helped me so much that I am not sure what I would be doing without it.

  What a great picture to have on your blog! So true!
Sometimes the enormity of the problem is much bigger in our minds than what actually exsists.
On the other hand, sometimes see the problem, magnified larger than it readlly is,
( & realizing it!), makes you laugh, & then deal with it.

We have our first activity to do in the Spring into Summer 5% challenge and that is to make a regular schedule and plan for exercise.

Exercise is my biggest downfall. I just do not like it. I don't mind walking for exercise and try to do some walking for exercise every day but when weather keeps me inside the great thoughts of doing exercise gets shoved to the back burners of my brain and nothing much seems to get done. Living with RA sometimes makes it painful to do much in the way of exercise but sometimes I think I use this as an excuse. So today I am going to work on a schedule for doing some type of exercise every day if not but 10minutes worth..this will be in addition to my walking time. I do enjoy my walks as I'm outside in the fresh air but what I need to add is toning type exercises as well. Also know that when the privet hedge blooms, I will be forced inside due to my allergies so I am truly going to make an effort to get more exercise this round of the 5% challenge.

    Something else we have in common - allergies! I've found the SP videos to be very helpful when I have to stay inside. I especially like the seated ones. It's not that I can't stand but when seated I can focus on upper body better - something I really need.

Back from break

Well it was a good thing I took that short break from here. We had to spend one afternoon covering our tomato and pepper plants to keep them from freezing. Also covered our planters out front of the house. Then had 2 days of art guild work..board meeting one day and then volunteered at the gallery the next. So this is the first free day to get on the computer for very long. I did get lots of exercise and ate properly but didn't log it here. I did manage to come and spin the wheel each day. But now hopefully I can blog again.

Since I had finished my crafty work lately I picked up a simple 2 color cross stitch pattern to work to keep my hands busy in the evening hours. It is of 2 whimsical goats and a free pattern I found online awhile ago. I am thinking of using the same design and draw up a rug to hook. I really like this pattern.

Sparkpeople Break

I have been here almost every day for over a year now and while my 5% challenge team is regrouping and all, I thought I would take a break from Sparkpeople for a few days. I won't be gone long but just feel I need to get away from this computer for awhile. I will probably pop in daily to spin my wheel but really need the time to reorganize my house and thoughts and life right now. Weather is turning warmer and wanting to get outside more. We do have our garden planted but need to keep at working in the yard for the next few days. I will be back to my blogs in a few days. Hope everyone has a great week. 5% challenge update

My update on my winter into spring 5% challenge. This challenge team ran for 8 weeks and am pleased with the results. I lost 6lbs over all from 194 to 188. Below are my beginning measurements and after.

2/23
Chest: 45
Bicep: 14
Waist: 40.5
Hips: 48.5
Thigh: 27
Neck: 15

4/20
Chest: 45
Bicep: 14
Waist: 40
Hips: 47
Thigh:25
Neck:14
I lost a half inch in my wasit, 1-1/2 inche in my hips, 2 inches in my thigh and 1 inch in my neck. So pleased at the results there as well. I have already signed up for the Spring into Summer 5% challenge and will let you all know when it opens to the regular public for signing up. I was in the 5% challenge all last year and lost a totatl of 31lbs now.
