Little things

Thursday, May 02, 2013

My husband and I enjoy such simple things in life now. We are way past the stage where we have to be entertained. We can do a walk around our place or do some exercise with free weights or we can get a lot of exercise working in our garden. We have been many places over our lifetimes and enjoyed everywhere we have been but we get the most joy out of staying home and enjoying our little "farm". We get joy from watching our garden grow or our seeing the fruit grow and ripen on our fruit trees. We enjoy watching the flowers unfold and put on their show. We enjoy pitching a ball for our dogs to fetch and basically we enjoy the simple life. Our sons are grown and have families of their own now and we enjoy visiting with them. We enjoy helping out our neighbors and attending church on Sundays. These may seem simple and small things but we are so blest by them. So always enjoy the path you walk and smell the flowers along the way.

What a wonderfully contented life you all seem to lead. I envy you your little patch of heaven right here on earth. But me and DH continue to look for ours and will find it eventually and then I hope we are 1/10 as content as you and Sonny seem to be.

Little blessings are really the best after all.

We start life with nothing and leave it the same way. naked and nothing. What we choose to do with what we are given in-between, is the key to happiness! Memories are great for sitting in our yard, reflecting, smiling and savoring.....

New Beginnings

Wednesday, May 01, 2013

Strange how some of us are like this saying. Before starting a good diet we seem to want to eat everything in sight right before starting it. We tend to sit on our rear ends right up until we take the first step to exercise. We (or at least I do) procrastinate on starting new endeavors. But funny thing is...once I start it becomes easier and then as I continue to do it, it becomes comfortable and then it becomes a habit. emoticon

Your right that sounds like 99% of us. I always began my "new" diet by eating myself into oblivion the day before I started. Funny, this time I didn't, and I have been thankful for it ever since. MJ emoticon

tail wagging

Tuesday, April 30, 2013

I love humor and find humor in the strangest places and in things people say without thinking. My 3 dogs are very comical. We have 2 who live outside and are best buddy. To watch them play almost makes me tired. They will race around the yard for hours. Our little indoors baby is lazy and fat. She acts like she wants to play with the other 2 but it is just like she doesn't know how. She does run some but she would much rather spend her days curled up in a lap or getting a back or belly rub. We do have her on a diet but it doesn't seem to be helping much as she doesn't get enough exercise..which brings me to ME. I'm the same. I'm a couch potato though I use my recliner rather than a couch. I am pretty active but when it comes to scheduling real "exercise" I just don't want to do it. Seeing others makes me want to do it but when it comes to it I'm so much like our little fat dog. I use excuses of aches and pains and weather but know it is really the thing that I just don't want to do it. I do get out every day and walk at least 10-20minutes and I'm a fast walker..but then my back gives out and I give in and quit. I have lost quite a bit being here on SP but know I would lose a lot more if I would just get up and exercise or walk more. With great weather on the way and re-joining the 5% challenge..I'm challenging myself to quit using tail wagging excuses and get up and move.

From one couch or should I say recliner person to another I know just what you mean and the excuses you use are the ones I use as well and with no little tail wagger to walk with I guess I am just going to have to challenge myself to get out there and do my 20 minutes with my hot pink emoticon so no falls and just get it done.

I could take my new recumbent bike out of the box and get on that as well but it will have to wait until after the back surgeries and then watch out for me.

Maybe when I get moved to Mena one Saturday a month we can meet and you can walk me all over your place and the next time you can come to Mena and walk with me and MaryAnn.

I know you can do it cause you have done it before. emoticon

Take that little dog for those 10 - 20 min walks. You may have to slow down a little at first but she will get used to it quickly and probably look forward to her special time with her person. Walking her twice a day would double your walking exercise!

I wish we lived closer, I would walk with you... I am also a fast walker, the faster the better I feel. Hubby does not always like to go with me for a walk, so I walk less alone, because I cant afford another fall; not with osteoporosis bones. Man I hate geting old! I was always active.

I do know what you mean, my dog has lazy days but she does run... all I have to do is say lets run.... and she will run as long as I say ... run, run run and she will circle the yard until I stop saying it. she loves to please me. She is so tired now that she is tucked under my husbands pillows just to shut out the light and nose from the Tv . she would sleep all day if we never said, "lets go out side". she loves being outside just lile I do. But it was HOT today! Love reading yoru blogs! I can relate to everything you do write! You have to be related! lol susana

Big girl

Sunday, April 28, 2013

I know this is kind of strange posting but when I was a teen and up into my 30's I had a small behind for the rest of me. Just not much of one to speak of. At the end of my 30's I was diagnosed with RA and my life became more seditary which has not been a good thing. I didn't give into the pain that much but the joints just wouldn't let me do the things I had been doing. In the process I began to gain weight. I went up to a much larger size set of "drawers"...I have noticed now since being back to SP for a little over a year that I have lost inches in the rear...and my "drawers" have gotten so baggy. I had some smaller sized ones saved that had been my mothers which she never wore in her later years at the nursing home (diaper time) so I had put them back in my dresser and pulled them out the other day and to my wonder they fit!!!My mom was a tiny woman but she did have a bigger rear end than I did when I was younger..noticed too that this last 5% challenge that I had lost inches there so it is working for me now. I may be slow on losing the pounds but certainly seeing the results in the inches.

emoticon emoticon emoticon I had a problem when I was a teen and the Doctor though it might be RA but it was not, it was a mystery that was never solved. I am in better health now but not perfect health. This site has helped me so much that I am not sure what I would be doing without it.

What a great picture to have on your blog! So true!
Sometimes the enormity of the problem is much bigger in our minds than what actually exsists.
On the other hand, sometimes see the problem, magnified larger than it readlly is,
( & realizing it!), makes you laugh, & then deal with it.
