The first picture is of a Canadian geese pair flying across a lake we visited last week. I thought it so went with this saying.
Now that hubby and I are retired, we don't have near the stress we used to have. And we don't want the stress anymore in our lives. I would rather "stress" my body in getting more exercise or stress my mind in learning new things but when it comes to the stress of dealing with jobs and other people we just don't do it that often.
My new 5% challenge starts today. I have gained 3lbs back in the month between challenges..not good but think most of this was gained this past week leading up to this challenge..like I'm wanting to make up to really cracking down for the next 8 weeks. But this 8 weeks is going to be one I hope and plan to really crack down with myself. With the temps warming up outside, it will make it easier to get outside more and really get some walking time in. Also with fresh veggies and fruit from our garden I know I will be eating more healthy.
So onward and downward (in the pounds).
This is a photo of my iris bed when it first began to bloom this year. We have expanded it another 6 feet on the other end. Once the bloom is finished we will split and transplant some of these. The iris is my favorite flower and is truly a "fancy lady"...I think I have every color under the sun. Some are rebloomers and will bloom again in the autumn if we don't get the heat and drought like we have had the past few years. Then some are hybrids and others are the old antique varieties. Some even traveled from house to house whenever we would move..and some of these came originally from my grandmother who also transplanted them from place to place in her life time. It makes be feel so blest to know I have something that once came from her original plants. If you want to see more and better photos go to my gnomes home blog to view. gnomes-home.blogspot.com
I needed today!!! It is one of those special days where the weather is just perfect. Pollen is almost gone so allergies aren't as bad. We took a drive out to one of our area lakes this morning. Took this shot of a pair of Canadian geese. They nest around our lakes this time of year and imagine this is a nesting pair. They mate for life by the way so it is always a treat to see them in the wild.
Had a good romp with Gracie dog and good walk in as well. Stopped by the farm store on the way home and got fertilizer for the garden and potting soil. Got home and repotted our lemon and orange trees. Admired the iris bed. We are expanding it several more feet so have it tilled and covered to kill out the weeds and grass before replanting.
I also noticed that some wrens are nesting in my old straw bee skep. So excited about that.
