Dr. Visit

Well, the good news is my cholesterol has come down from 6 to 2.01, so, technically, I am "over the limit" as 2 is the cut off point.

He loves my b.p. 102/80.

It was a wonderful morning to walk there, about 40 minutes but I took a taxi home as it was getting too hot to attempt that again.

Besides, my sugar level dropped from 6.4 to 3.8, would never have made it. Good thing I keep glucose tablets & glucerna bars for situations like these.

Anyways, I will be walking to work in few hours. I think I will have a cup of tea & continue my book, 50 Shades of Grey. Almost done. Can't wait to read books 2 & 3 of the trilogy. emoticon

Hubby's weight loss

Friday, May 04, 2012

My husband's colleagues had a weight loss competition. I am proud to say that he won, he lost 20 lbs and is almost at his goal.

He did it by smaller portions, exercise & not snacking as much as we did before.

His jeans are now too big for him. Will have to get him some 34's. Not 36.

When he was a kid he was overweight and one summer he cut out the junk food and weight trained.

I prepare him a healthy breakfast each morning and lunch & breaks are healthy choices.

It is amazing how small changes can have a major impact.

Best of luck to everyone in their personal goals.

A shock to learn....

I now have high cholesterol. A few years ago it was perfect, right within the normal range. Now I find it has doubled.
Not knowing much about this, I went on line. What an eye opener it was to me. So, out goes a lot of my favourite foods, so, now I will have to fnd substitutions for flavour.
So, in 2 months, I go back after taking the medication. Love the side effects he mentioned. Could turn jaundiced or have severe aches.
Ah, the wonders of modern medicine.

Gotta go to work now. emoticon

As Jackfat2 says it is not always your diet. Our bodies make cholesterol and some people make more than other. My husbands family all have high cholesterol and have to drugs to help keep it lower. Some foods do help to lower it and regular exercising helps as well.
If your muscles start to ache to not hesitate to call the doctor and tell them as there are other drugs out there.
Good luck.

You don't necessarily have to give up delicious and tasty foods! Like eggs or bacon for example. You may not realize but there is a large community of people who believe that eating cholesterol does not lead to high cholesterol levels, and even that cholesterol levels don't necessarily mean something bad for you health. Check out marksdailyapple.com if you want an easy to understand explanation (although not always logical) of this way of eating. Look into something dubbed 'Paleo' and the works of Loren Cordain and Robb Wolf (Robbwolf.com is my personal favorite) for more on this topic. Hope you feel better!

Can you help me?

I am looking for a Sedar (Passover) Potato dish that will serve about 12-15. I had a great receipe last year and lost it. Can you suggest a good site. I can't find one and forgot which one I used last year.
I am trying to be as economical as possible.
Thank you.

Wow, did I ever have a major headache, something I'm not used to and I pity those who have these frequently. It started about 2:00 am on Sunday and lasted until Monday. I had to work yesterday (it was Family Day) and a stat holiday here in Ontario so I didn't want to call in sick and lose my extra money. What a busy day. Finally, after taking more advil extra strength, the darn thing was finally gone about 2:30. Finally, some sleep as well.

Years ago I had a migraine but at that point in time I never knew what it was and have had a couple since then but thank goodness, not frequently. Oh, I don't envy those who have them on a regular basis.

Felt good to get back to working out. I just did the core workout using kettlebells. 600 calories for 30 minutes according to the calculator.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Ouch! I do not get headaches very often and they are usually because I am tired and if I go to bed they go away. I feel for people who suffer with any kind of headache. Have a great day!
