Hello Everyone,

Thank you all for your comments. I really appreciate that you take to time to stop by and leave a message.

No races this weekend, so tomorrow all that is on my schedule is one class at 9:15 AM. Next week they are racing on both Friday and Saturday nights. Then it is over for the season. I had planned to work BOTH nights, but since I have the Saturday class now, I called the owner today and told her that I won't be able to work on Friday night. That would have me away from the house on two days and two nights with very little sleep. The long drive home in the middle of the night is too long for one who has had only a few hours sleep two nights in a row. I will be there on Saturday night though.

I have received the notice of classes running and canceled during the Thanksgiving and Christmas/New Year's holidays. It looks like I am getting just about three weeks of unexpected, unplanned, unwanted, and UNPAID vacation time. That is one thing that really bothers me about holidays. They cost a lot of money, and I am out of work. Nothing that I can change about that though, and since it happens every year and every holiday, I should be used to it by now.

Gotta get going and unload a bunch of 'stuff' from my truck. Have a GREAT WEEKEND!

HUGS
Pam

Sorry for the tough times ahead financially. I can relate. Is a temp holiday job a possibility? A lot of stores hire extra people before Christmas. Best wishes to you.

I'm so sorry to hear about your unwanted time off during the holidays. That truly stinks. Sadly, that's the time of year when I need the most help to stay on track and I'm sure it is true for others. Could you run a private class for those who want to attend?

I'm sorry about your unwanted time off! I know it's hard for you to be unpaid.

I don't blame you for not wanting to do the races Friday night.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Hello Everyone,

Nice day around here. Chilly, but sunny and not bad, although I prefer it much warmer. However, it IS fall, and for fall, it was a beautiful day.

The participants in my second class of the day and I all went out to lunch today. It was fun, but something that we can only do occasionally. I am sure we each ate all of the calories that we'd burned in the exercise class, PLUS a whole lot more. Still, this was the first time we've ever done that, so it was OK!

No races this weekend, and next weekend will be the last of the races for this season. I will miss it, but the way time is flying by, it won't be long before it all starts up again. I guess I will be there again next season. No reason not to believe that I will.

I hope you all have a GREAT FRIDAY and a WONDERFUL WEEKEND!

Take care, and keep in touch.

October 19, 2014 (Sunday)

Sunday, October 19, 2014

Hello Everyone,

Thank you all for your comments on my last blog. Thank you also for your concerns about my knee. It really has progressed very well. Actually, it feels fine, but I am still being a little cautious with it because I imagine it is still a little weak.

The races went well. There was not as many people there as the owner expected, but there was a lot of other events going on this weekend around town. PLUS, it was pretty chilly once the sun went down. We were selling 'hoodies,' and the sold very well since some do not want to 'let go' of summer, and they showed up in shorts and tank tops. I wish we didn't have to 'let go' of summer, but we do, so I had on jeans, a T-Shirt, a thermal shirt, another T-Shirt, and a 'hoodie' in addition to running a heater for most of the time that I was there. I also had a heavy coat with me, but I didn't have to wear it, but I wanted it with me just in case.

The Blue Angels have been here this weekend. Today when I left the YMCA (which is positioned very near their performance location), their show was just getting started. I stood outside with many others and watched from the YMCA parking lot. If you've never seen their show, it is one of the most AWESOME sights that I've ever seen. Check them out online if you haven't seen them before. They are AMAZING.

Got a busy week ahead. Since I am free for several hours on Tues/Thurs afternoons now, I am getting around to a few appointments that I've had on hold. Last week it was the cats to the vet visits and the dentist. This week, I have an appointment about insurance on Tues, and I need to get back into the business of finding another vehicle. I did make one stop at a local car dealership last Thurs. and I liked what I saw, but I imagine I need to look at more than one dealership. I like this one though because it is close to home and on my way to the YMCA. Convenience is important for later things such as oil changes and vehicle maintenance. I don't know. Buying a new vehicle is a big thing for me, and something that I probably won't be doing again, so I want to be sure and do it right. That is the troublesome part. emoticon

Have a GREAT WEEK, ALL! Take care, and keep in touch.

HUGS

Glad your knee is doing better and the races went well! Good luck with the car hunt. I agree it's important to use a close dealership.

Convenience is a very important factor when buying a vehicle. As for the Blue Angels, I'll have to check them out online.

I'm glad your knee is doing well!

It is chilly here at night too. Good weather for Fall foods.

We have had the Blue Angels here and they are fantastic.

I agree about buying a vehicle. It really is hard but I like a close dealership too. They are more honest usually than a used car place.

When we lived in Colorado Springs, the Blue Angels performed for the graduation of the cadets @ the Air Force Academy. Awesome. People were all liked up on the side of the highway watching in awe.

Have a great week. HUGS

yes it is a very big deal.....we got a brand new Buick in Sept. 2012 and I wouldn't have anyone else get one. It is a pretty car and has everything. We got the money because my hubby's aunt past in Arpil and was a shock she gave us any thing even though we went every year to San Jose, CA.....to help her out. Russ would fix things for her. She was in her 80's......his mother didn't care if we went to visit her baby sister for a couple days. But back to car it has toooooo many blind spot....yes I drove the car or one hey had on lot but not the color I wanted so dealer went to Ca. and got this one white.....anyway if you are getting an up to date vehicle watch out.....for I am going to exchange this one for another older car or one without so many blind spots.....the head rest for one thing are in the way when you turn to see if a car in on your side when you want to change lanes you can't see it has no space for you too see. and they are too tall to see when you turn head to look to back up.....that is only one of the bad things.....when I drove it I didn't have to turn my head just started in on lane didn't change.....oh well ..it has 6400 miles on it now after having it two years. Yep don't drive it much except to get groceries. church doctors....and that is what has put the miles on.....

glad your knee is getting back to normal....now for mine.... emoticon

the Blue Angel have come to Hillboro, Or lots of times and put on shows but never get to go....it is quiet just sitter at home watching on TV....it was awful when the two crash one year.....take care

I'm very glad to hear that your knee is doing well!

I'm happy to hear that you were prepared to stay warm during the races. It is hard to get used to cooler temps.

I have seen the Blue Angels on TV and was very impressed!

It's great that you now have enough free time on Tuesdays and Thursdays to take care of other things. I hope you will soon find the right vehicle for you.

Have a great week.

October 17, 2014 (Friday)

Friday, October 17, 2014

I don't think we've had ANY rain this week. The races are on as scheduled for tomorrow, and since no rain is predicted, I guess that is the final word. It will be cold again, only in the 60's during the day, and in the 40's at night. This is a BIG race (the one that was scheduled for last Saturday but canceled due to so much rain), and the race that was originally scheduled for tomorrow will be held on Sunday. I have never worked there on Sunday. They will have to find someone else to do my job. I could do the job on both Saturday and Sunday, because I could get someone to teach my class at the Y, but since I don't ever get home until SO LATE or EARLY (depending on what you want to call 1:00 or 2:00 AM, late for Saturday or early for Sunday) I don't know how I would feel on Monday when I have to get up at 5:30 AM and then teach SIX HOURS of Fitness classes. So, I will have to pass on working there on Sunday.

It has been a week of nice fall weather, so I wish it would be like it has been this week again tomorrow, rather than being in the 60's. That is the temperature that it was week before last when we were there. It was getting pretty COLD before the night was over. I am definitely taking my heater and a heavier jacket tomorrow.

I had an injury to my knee a couple of weeks ago, but it is almost 100% well now. I didn't do anything out of the ordinary. I was doing Zumba, and suddenly my knee just buckled under. It was hard to put weight on it at first, but later that day and each day afterwards, it was better. Nothing serious, just a twisted knee or something. I wore a knee brace for a few days, and then a friend of mine who is a Physical Therapist told me to tape it. She did it the first time, and I am continuing to do that. The taping works better than the knee brace because it stays on the knee 24/7, and the knee brace gets sweaty and I was removing it around the house.

All cats have recently been to the vet for their annual checkups and shots. They were all pretty well behaved. Chloe (4 years old and 7 pounds) was the most upset by the visit. They don't really mind seeing the vet; they just don't like the ride over or back. I am glad that my vet is only 2 miles from the house. I only have to listen to the complaining for about 10 minutes each way.

I hope you are all well, and doing GREAT! I also hope you are having nice fall weather. I would have liked to have gone to my son's football game (he coaches) tonight, but since it is an two hour round trip to his games and 2-3 hours for the game, I decided that I should not go. I now have a Saturday class that gets me up around 7:00 AM, and then the long drive to the race track, the long hours there, and the long drive back in the early Sunday morning hours, caused me to think that I should try to get to bed at a decent hour rather than being out late tonight. I can go next Friday night because there are no races scheduled for next Saturday unless they want to reschedule one that was canceled due to rain.

I am out of here and getting busy logging in all of my Spark Stuff. Have a GREAT EVENING and a WONDERFUL WEEKEND!

HUGS
Pam

So sorry about your knee, but glad it is getting better.

I'm glad you got all the cats to the vet. My cat seems to tolerate the car rides better as he gets older. He's good at the appointments too.

It certainly would be hard for you to get to your son's football game.

I hope you have a good weekend too!

I enjoy the cooler temps but not 40s or 30s. Too cold. I would not think many people would come on Sunday with work being on Monday for most people.

I have weird stuff like that happen to my knee too.

I'm glad the cats had a good check up.

October 11, 2014 (Saturday)

Saturday, October 11, 2014

Too much rain, so the races for today/tonight were canceled. I have mixed emotions when the races are canceled because I really need the work there, BUT it was so cold last Saturday night, that there were not that many in attendance. Tonight would be the same way, cold again. Nothing much going on other than I did do a few things on my 'to do when I have time' list. That is such a good feeling that before the night is over, I may do a few more of those things.

I hope all of you are doing fine and having a GREAT DAY!
