Thank you for your supportive responses on my last blog. Today has been great with sunshine and temperatures in the 60's. I cannot complain at all about that!
Things have taken a turnaround with my hours on the Fitness Floor. I have already worked there 14 hours during November, and I have another shift on the Friday after Thanksgiving. I knew that I had those hours, but it was the December schedule that was filled except for one Friday night shift. Three shifts opened up since the schedule was printed, and now I have those. I guess someone signed up for the hours and then either remembered previous plans or new plans came up. Whatever the reason, they are MINE, now. Since I have the password, I can hopefully get on the January schedule before others have signed up for all of the hours.
I hope you are ALL having a GREAT WEEKEND. I am going out in a few minutes to take the garbage to the dump and the recycles to the recycling bin. No, I am not taking all of that in my new car (I did mention previously that I had bought a 2012 Hyundai, didn't I?). That is the good thing about keeping my truck. It is perfect for chores such as going to the dump.
I am out of here to get to the dump before it closes. That really isn't such a nasty chore. Everything is really well maintained there, and neat in appearance. It does close in an hour though and will remain closed until Tuesday, so I'd better get going.

Surprise! It was a pretty nice day today with higher temperatures. It is supposed to be in the 60's this weekend. I can live with that.
Nothing much happened today that is worthy of talking about. Just a usual day. I did talk with the director of the Fitness Floor, and she said that all of the 'regulars' on the work schedule automatically sign in their usual hours each month, but that usually one or two of them will need someone to take some of the hours as the dates grow nearer. So, I may get hours after all. Who knows? Anyway, I may be too busy myself to take on any hours. The lady and her husband who own the race track also own a banquet hall near here where events such as weddings, receptions, company parties, family reunions, etc., are held. She said that she would 'keep me in mind' to work there during the holidays. I have done that before, and it is fun, PLUS she pays very well. So, I will have to see if anything turns up there.
I am out of here for tonight since it is almost cut off time here on Spark People, and I have a few more things to do before signing off for today.
Have a WONDERFUL Thursday. Take care, and stay warm!

Thank you for responding to my last blog. I hope you are all doing well. Things are OK around here. There was only a light 'dusting' of snow on Sunday night, so the roads were fine, and all schools and gyms were open. Being parked down "THE HILL" was not necessary, but when snow is predicted, that is where one will find my truck. Of course, I had to walk back down there on Monday morning and drive the truck back up to the house, but I can't risk being stuck on top of "THE HILL!"
It has been very COLD here, something like 17 last night, but it is supposed to be in the 50's tomorrow and in the high 60's this weekend. That sounds like a 'heat wave' after the horribly cold weather that we've had yesterday and today.
My son did come back over on Monday while I was at work. When I returned around 2:00 PM, I had HOT WATER! He replaced a part on the hot water heater, and the part only cost $6.00. That was really GREAT NEWS! He said it was fine now, but of course it is old, so who knows how long it will last. The attic is really NOT a good place for water heaters, but that is where they are placed in most homes around here. There is an overflow 'thing' and it was working, but I guess it was stopped up or something, or either the water was coming out too fast for it to handle it. I don't know. Nothing major was done, although there is a stain on the ceiling between the laundry room and the hall. That doesn't bother me though because the whole house needs a new paint job, and I am not doing anything about that now.
I think I am considered a 'sub' for working on the Fitness Floor. The new schedule came out yesterday for us to sign in when we could work. Since I didn't have the password, I was unable to get to the page. Today I checked with the girl who is training me, and she got me to the page, but all of the hours that I could work are already filled by the 'regulars' who work there. Probably someone will need a sub during the holidays, and if not then I won't be working there at that time. I guess the only way to get a lot of hours is for someone to quit, and to move into the list of 'regulars.' Not a big deal, but not much of a job either.
I am out of here, and off to log in what I can before leaving for the store. Have a GREAT WEDNESDAY, and stay warm!

Thank you for your responses to my last blog wishing you ALL a GREAT WEEKEND!
I knew my weekend would be busy, but I didn't expect it to be THIS BUSY! For starters, on Friday, I taught my normal five hours of fitness classes. Then I had a meeting immediately after the last class was over for my first training for the job of working in the Wellness Center (Fitness Floor) at the YMCA. That lasted until 5:00 PM, and then I had planned to meet with a salesman (whom I had previously spoken with about buying a car) right after that. Since I could not make up my mind about a new or used car, he said that he had two 'like new' cars that had come in as trade-ins last weekend. Anyway, I stopped by there and drove both of the cars, and I liked them both. I really have a hard time making important decisions. The cars were both really beautiful and he could have fooled me and told me that they were 'new' because I do not know anything about new cars. So many of them look about the same to me. Of course, I could see that they both had mileage on them, but as far as their body and interior goes, they could have been new.
I told him that I wanted to 'sleep on it,' and I would let him know on Saturday morning. I thought that sort of sounded like I knew what I was talking about. So I called him back on Saturday on my way to the Y to teach my class and do my 5 hours on the Fitness Floor and told him that I would be by there after work. I knew which car that I wanted by that time, and it is a 2012 Hyundai Accent. It is really neat, a very light silver, and it only has 32,000 miles on it. OK, so the paperwork on that took TWO HOURS. By that time it was 7:00 PM, and I was exhausted, so I left it there on Saturday night, and my son and I went down today to pick it up. Since I am keeping my truck, I needed my son to go so that he could drive my truck back home.
As soon as I got home today from that, it was time to get ready to go back to the Y to teach a class and work 4 hours on the Fitness Floor. Right after I got home from that it was time to take both of my sons, and my oldest son's girlfriend out to dinner to celebrate my two son's birthdays. One was on the 10th and the other one was today. The weekend was over before I got a chance to catch my breath from all of that running around.
But that's not ALL that happened. When we got home, and my youngest son had gone to bed, and right before I was planning to get online, I opened the door to the hall, and I noticed water dripping from the ceiling. WHAT! Anyway, I reasoned that the hot water heater was positioned in the attic right above that area, and it MUST be leaking. I ran up to the attic (pull down stairs in the garage), and water was gushing out of the hot water heater in two different places. One was a steady stream, and the other was like a hose spraying (which got a lot of stuff wet that was sitting nearby). This must have been leaking for awhile because there was an area of the hall carpet wet. All I knew to do was call my oldest son (who is off work this week...thank goodness) and ask him how to turn off the water or if the water could be turned off that was going into the water heater. He gave me instructions but of course, nothing was working and the water was gushing out one place and pouring out the other. There is an overflow plan but it was overflowing. Anyway, he said he would have to come over.
He lives about 5 miles away, so while I waited for him, I remembered that my truck was already parked down at the bottom of "THE HILL" because snow is predicted for tonight. My youngest son says that it is NOT going to snow and if it does since he is a school teacher that he won't have school anyway so he did not take his car down there. It is a good thing or I would have had to awaken him (he would NOT be in a good mood) and have him move his car, too. He was slightly PO'd that I insisted that he stand in the den window to watch me walk up the hill after I moved my truck down there. I HATE that hill at night with all of the trees bending over and swishing around in the wind, and it is SO DARK! However, I knew what I had to do, and that was walk down there and bring the truck back up the hill so that my other son could drive up the hill.
He made it over here, and he got the water to stop running out, or rather he let all of the water run out while being supervised so that none came out of the overflow thing. That was 50 gallons of water that had to empty out. Good thing it happened before I went to bed or the ceiling, hall carpet, and maybe even MORE areas would probably have been drenched. After he left with the intention of coming back tomorrow to do something about it (of course no hot water until it is either fixed or replaced), I drove back down the hill, and parked my truck. I am not taking any chances driving my new car in 'Yucky' weather. If it is bad, I am not even taking any chances driving my 'Yucky' truck in 'Yucky' weather. I hope my youngest son is correct and it isn't going to do anything. We won't know until in the morning though. If it doesn't do anything weather wise, I will have to walk down there again and move my truck back up "THE HILL" so that he can get out.
So, I really hope that you ALL had a GREAT WEEKEND! Other than the water heater ordeal, and the predicted snow causing me to drive, and walk up and down "THE HILL," mine was OK. I got my new car; I got a part-time job that fits in well with my other working hours, and I got to celebrate both of my son's birthdays. I am very thankful for all of those things.
Now, I hope you ALL have a GREAT WEEK!
