Had a good day yesterday.

Did some cleaning in the living room. Last week i bought a small carpet shampooer and am in the process of cleaning the carpets in our very small apartment. Will be so good when it is all done. And yesterday i did another section in the living room,

In the afternoon went to knitting - such a fun group - 5 of us yesterday. I am knitting a prayer shawl to donate to Hospice. I do so treasure the one they gave us when they were caring for my son, Greg.

And i even got to the club for a "walk" on the treadmill. I really must get to going more regularly - i was going good for a while and then ???????? I just stopped going. But, i have found that no one is going for me, so it is up to me to go for me.

I do feel like i am gradually getting my life back "on track" since my son's death, December 30. The days we had with him were so precious and i do miss him. So in honor of his life, i am going to take better charge of each day that God gives me,

I have getting back to the club - not as often as i would like, but my goal right now is to just set the habit of going at least 5 days a week - even if for only 10 minutes on the treadmill. And also have been walking more - and trying to add more steps each day.

Yesterday was a good day, Sunday School and church and then lunch with my dear friend Elaine and her husband. We went to Wendy's and i had their baked potato with butter and sour cream - Oh, so good,

Then in the afternoon i laid down and read for about half hour. About 5 p.m. back to church for our Circle of Sisters, Had not been in such a long time, so was good to see some of the gals again.

Now am ready for whatever God has planned for me today. I wonder what???

My Grandson Jordon and his Wife, Melissa

My grandson is in the Navy and stationed in SanDiego. And he and his Wife are visiting for a few days. I had not met her, so yesterday we met for lunch and i got to know a bit about her and her dreams.
Monday will be their first wedding anniversary and the are going to spend a couple of days at a bed-and-breakfast in Walla Walla. So pray it will be a good time for them.

YEAH!! Got to the club this morning in spite of the snow. Oh, but it is so beautiful - just wish I had remembered my camera. Will put in my bag so next time i will have it. But, I can take a couple of pictures of the river from my patio.

Had a good visit with Elaine and Barb at the Cookie Tree. Elaine and I are knitting socks and Barb is finishing a sweater she is knitting for her husband. It will be so very nice!

My goal for January had been to get to the club more - but just did not - so will continue this month. My goal is to go at least 5 times a week - and now we have snow in the forecast for the next week. And it can get rather deep here in Pendleton - so will see what the weather brings.

A goal i am adding for February is to drink at least 4 glasses of water each day. Have had this goal a number of times before but I just do not like water!! Yucky!! Have tried all, well, lots of "tricks" but they just do not help. But I can drink the bottled water from Safeway - and have some in the closet. Perhaps i should just get some out and put in the fridge. You think that might help. Will see!!

I have this quote on a sticky on my desktop - not sure where i got it - must be from someone's blog here on SparkPeople - or perhaps one of the inspirational quotes. But it so applies to me today.

I met with Elaine this morning for our visit and time of Bible study. And we talked about our weight - she was at the doctor yesterday and he basically told her she needs to loose some weight. So we have decided to encourage each other. Now we need to set goals and a time-frame. I want to loose 25 pounds this year - that is only 2 pounds a month. Does sound doable - but it won'd happen if i don"t find a way - and not find excuse!!

I love the challenges from the teams that i am a part of - but I sign up and then do not always follow thru. I can read all the encouraging blogs from others who have been successful, but that won't help me if i do not apply what I learn! Like taking my meds for my blood pressure. I put them in my pocket to take later - and then in the evening take them out of my pocket and put on my dresser. My son keeps telling me they do not work by osmosis - i really do have to swallow them for them to work. And so it is, with losing weight, I have to eat better and become more active - - - - - - - - - -

    Good for you Barb, it's great when you can do it with someone and you've set a realistic goal too.
I keep a bottle of water in the fridge so it's cold, have you tried it with a drop of lemon or lime juice?

    Good for you! Your goal is realistic - it amounts to 1/2 pound each week. You've already located an accountability partner. NOW your challenge is to figure out what small steps you're going to take to get there! Is it eating 2 more vegetables each day (healthier nutrition leaving less room for unhealthier stuff)? Is it getting 10 more minutes of exercise this week, and increasing it when it becomes too easy to do? Is it getting 8 hours of sleep? 8 glasses of water? There are LOTS of small, achievable things you can work on. Can't wait to see what approach you'll take to "find a way"!
