Geoff and I are finally back home!! We had a good trip down and back to Medford - the drive was easier than i had anticipated.
Now the doctors think the cancer is in Linda's bone marrow - her hemoglobin count keeps dropping. She was in the hospital again while we were there and received another 2 units of blood. So they have set her up at the infusion center to have her blood checked twice a week and to have a transfusion when the count drops below a certain point. This will be much easier for her than going into the hospital.
We had such a good visit. Linda has a veteran friend who takes care of her - well, they take care of each other (he has cancer too). And we had so much fun together - just visiting, laughing, and sharing. I told Tom that i so much appreciate him taking care of my sister and his comment was "Well, I love her!"
Beautiful out today - sunny and warming up!! Predictions into the 80s -
I talked to my Sister yesterday - she is in the hospital - getting some blood. She is very anemic and was quite weak. But after the transfusions, she had gotten some of her strength back. She will be in the hospital a couple of days. I am not going down yet - will wait until her friend Tom lets me know. I will miss her emails today - we email at least a dozen times a day - have to keep track of each other. But i know she is in good hands.
Will probably go to knitting this afternoon. Have started another pair of socks with some of the yarn a fellow knitter gave be. Here is a picture of the socks - so far:
Just had a call from friend Elaine - she is a 2 times cancer survivor so she understands.
I have not done much Sparking recently - have had a few "family" issues and now my sister who lives in Medford has been diagnosed with cancer. She has known for a while, but did not let me know since i lost my son, Greg, to cancer in December. In January the doctor told her 5 to 6 months without chemo. She has opted not to have the chemo, but has been having radiation which has helped. Not sure how she is really doing - she has never been one to share - but am going to check with her best friend. Am sure he will let me know.
Need to start seriously tracking again. I know it takes time - but it is so worth it!! Just posting what i eat each day and all my activities really does keep me on track. I find the 10 minute challenges work best for me. Surely i can do something for 10 minutes. Usually i set my time for 15 minutes. Got that from flylady.net. Another fun, amazing website. And her challenges are 15 minutes. And it works for me.
Hope everyone is having a Super Saturday!! I have the window open on this cool morning and may have to go put on a sweatshirt - this tee shirt is just not warm enough.
Well, I said there were no plans to stay past noon - but again today Steph and i were there until about 4.
We were sharing our "stories" and the changes happening in our church. Last year our senior pastor resigned because of his health. And our current pastor came from Arkansas the first of September. Gonna be great.
And then last Sunday our associate pastor gave his resignation. He and his family (they have 3 little ones - the oldest just started school) are moving to a church in Roseburg. Not sure what he will be doing - possibly music. He will be so missed. He grew up here in Pendleton, so his announcement was a surprise to me.
Getting ready to watch my series - am watching Revolution on netflix - and knitting.
