Several clubs throughout Houston

I go to the Bally in The Woodlands too and I am very disappointed with it. It is really, really dirty and even basic repairs are skipped - i.e. one of the toilets in ladies locker room was broken for almost a year. The staff is actually surly now and completely unresponsive now.

I am going to bow out for a while and try out Nicole's Sweatsuit to Swimsuit Boot Camp. I am just starting today, but it looks like it will be right up my alley! Wish me luck :)

I use the Barker Cypress Bally on the west side of Houston and they did a fantastic upgrade when rebuilt. All the machines have fancy tv attatched. My only complaint now is how they are canceliing classes? I think the money crunch has them scared? I miss my spinning classes during the day and step classes at noon? Where are they?

i used to work out at bally and I am so glad i cancelled my memebership! I am a mother of two and my boys were at a potty training age, and they both got so sick with blisters in thier mouths..i brought them to the doctor and they had what is called "trench mouth" or "hand foot and mouth" sickness...the doctor said it is associated with dirty, unsanitary areas.. well, i am a neat freak, and i stay home with them, no daycare here!!! EXCEPT for the Bally daycare while i worked out!!! come to find out, there was urine and feces that had not been washed up in the bathroom areas, there was black mold under the play mats, moldy food in the toy chests, need i go on??I was unaware of how bad it was because adults are not allowed in...I called and complained...never got a call back, waited on hold with customer service a number of times, never once did management call me back or write, nothing...and the club never responded back to me either...i called the health department on this bally in humble on highway 59..it was filthy!!!! The only correspondence i have had from them was a letter to renue my membership!!hahaha..
havent been there in almost a year!! I am not a drama queen either, and i dont expect the work out area to smell like roses, but a kids club should be taken care of..and CLEAN!!! I am so ANTI ballys!! they are probably the WORST workout facility out there!! and not to mention my husband, worked for them part time as a personal trainer for 3 years before we had kids, and he said all they want is MONEY!! the trainers have personal quotas to fill as far as how much money they make...not quotas based on the progress or satisfaction of its members, but on how much money they get from ya!! he hated it...I am a spinning instructor at a local health club, i have worked out at golds gym, 24 hour and Life time fitness and bally total fitness is the worst in genuinely caring for its members, the worst in latest equipment, the worst in group classes, etc, etc......sorry to go off like this...but if i can save one more person from going there i will!!!

I work out on 290 and Tidwell. I have a membership thru my job so I don't feel the fees are that high. I do work out with a trainer and he is the best money I have spent on myself. I do with the restrooms were a little nicer but beyond that I love the club and find the people very helpful.

I had been using the 290-Tidwell location and was thinking about going back, I just don't like some of their sales tactics. If you can get past that, this location is one of the two 'super' locations which features a really beefed up free weight area. There are some pretty serious lifters there if that motivates you (it does for me) but its definitely not a meat market if your thing is more of a social event. If you are one of those 'social' types and go here, please don't rest on my friggin bench!

I have been a member for several years now and it seems to be definitely on the downhill slope. Most of the employees are totally worthless, the clubs are not as clean as they should be, the fees are high and, at least at my club, there seems to be a general lack of consideration for their members. If I was not already so far into it and my workout partners also members I would definitely go somewhere else. I use the 290/Tidwell Club. Oh- and watch out for the overly pushy "trainers" who want you to book hours with them.

Chef Meg's Cheesy Grilled Banana Peppers
Submitted By: CHEF_MEG

Cheese. Bacon. Tomatoes. Yum!
Chef Meg finds a slightly more sophisticated version of the hot pepper poppers found on appetizer menus everywhere. Her version uses mild banana peppers, creamy Gouda cheese, a bit of bacon for a smoky richness, and tomatoes to offer a bit of freshness. She grills them to add another layer of flavor to the dish.

Serve these as an appetizer or unexpected side dish at your next barbecue!

Chef Meg uses panko, or Japanese breadcrumbs in this recipe. You can substitute whatever breadcrumbs you have on hand. Full Recipe
