Bear Creek Park

- Submitted by VICKILUU - 6 Comments

Resource Details Below

The Houston Farm and Ranch Club has its headquarters and rodeo arena here. The County Texas Cooperative Extension & Test Garden office is here and there is a Community Center. Other features include a lighted walking trail, an equestrian trail, a small zoo and aviary, an array of playgrounds, soccer, little league and softball fields, four lighted tennis courts, eight picnic pavilions, horseshoe courts, and hundreds of picnic tables and grills.

A concessionaire operates the Bear Creek Golf World on the park property. (e-mail: bcgwgolf@swbell.net)

The Harris County War Memorial is located in this park, just inside the Eldridge Parkway entrance. The Memorial was built in 1985 to honor all of the known residents who lost their lives in our nation's wars since, and including World War I.

I walk the 2 mile trail (twice) at this park with my husband 5 times a week. It's a very active park, lots of people running, walking, strolling ect. The trail is lit at night and there are tennis courts, ball fields, soccer fields, picnic areas, play grounds, several restrooms, a zoo and aviary. Really a nice park and there is always security present (HPD) so there are never problems that I have seen.

I have not been to Bear Creek for a really long time. I think that we should make it out there some day. I'm sure it doesn't look anything like it looked when I went there as a kid. 37 + years ago. Wow!!

Is there a group that walks the park on a regular basis. It would be nice to have someone to walk with. Even if it were once a week it would be nice. I walk around my neighborhood but the Bear creek park group would be nice. I use to roller blade the park when I was younger and had someone to do it with (kids).

This is a great park for the family. The kids don't seem to mind the distance around the trail. You get your excerise and the kids have fun.
