I agree, Fairmount Park is a terrific place to get your exercise, whether it is walking, jogging or biking. I also use it for my quiet time, when I need to relax myself and enjoy God's beauty.
Walking along the drive is great. Is there anyone power walking in that area on Saturdays? I'm looking for a walking buddy. :)
I agree with the comments above and would add just one more: there's always something going on. Concerts, running races, rowing races, and lots more. I'm there every Saturday running all or part of "The Loop."
I used to live really close to the art museum a few years ago. I was so inspired by living so close to the river that I started to run even! I have never liked running but the trail by the river totally inspired me. I fell off my running routine and now that I moved back to the east falls area I am once again getting back into it because I am so close to the river!
I agree Bevjax. I live in West Mt. Airy and access the Wissahickon Creek area of Fairmount Park. Steep hilly trails for hiking, mountain biking, dog walking, all lead down to the creek with its bubbling waters and beautiful vistas.
Fairmount Park is the best place to get your excerise. There are so many locations for any activity that you would want to do. I love to walk the path that goes around the Water Works Cafe and follow that path down the river or go over to the west side of the drive. Then there's Valley Green for hiking ,walking ,jogging, biking or even horseback riding. It's so beautiful, any part of Fairmount Park is worth spending time in.... it's the Best of Philly !
