1,139 Recreational Walkers in San Francisco get together weekly (not all at the same time!!). Meet other local people who are interested in walking for fitness and in learning about the history of San Francisco, including the city's movie history. Most Saturdays we go on long walks that have great variety in distance, stair climbing, and amount of history information. Attendance has varied from 2 to 38. Routes are well planned with adequate restrooms. We slow up for people and don't give them heart attacks. Walks are free.

i plan on going on the greatest mansions in san francisco walk october 31st :)
i would love to meet up and walk around the city with new people. Lets plan on a walk soon.
I'm going to try and make it on the next walk up Nob Hill! I just moved here, and I think this is a great way to learn the area!
I have been on many of Howard's walks. They are great! My favorite is the March to the Sea, walking from near the Embarcadero out to Land's End. Fabulous! (It only becomes tedious when there are more than 15 or so walkers, as restroom breaks take forever!) Howard loves his history and loves sharing it with folks, especially Danielle Steele's mansion that used to belong to a lady whose past was not so ladylike...

ank Hill is another great walk. An amazing view of the City is to be had from the top of this hill that used to contain a very large tank that stored water from Laguna Honda. (Google for history, it's pretty cool!)
Enjoy!
