Juice Joint Cafe

Resource Details Below

The Juice Joint is a very popular health-oriented lunch spot Downtown at the corner of L Street and Vermont. They specialize in all natural smoothies/juices and healthy, fresh, natural sandwiches and wraps. They're also vegetarian/vegan friendly - all vegetarian and vegan meals are marked clearly on the menu (available in PDF on their website).

The Smoothies come a la carte or you can choose one of their popular ones. Each smoothie is made with just fresh fruit, your choice of liquid (juice, soymilk, low fat milk) and whatever additives you choose (protein powder, low fat yogurt, wheat germ, and tofu, and so on). There is no sugar or artificial sweeteners added, giving the smoothies the great tart and crisp taste of fresh fruit.

The wraps and sandwiches are great, very filling, and come out quickly. Their specialty is jerk-spiced foods, such as the Jerk-Chicken Wrap or the Salmon wrap. Their sauces and toppings are great and unique (fresh rosemary sauce, mango salsa made in house). As mentioned before, they clearly mark which sandwiches and wraps are vegan and vegetarian. They also serve quesadillas.

There is ALWAYS a line at lunch - this place is very popular among the younger DC working population - but it moves quickly. Just make sure you don't hold the door open or you'll get yelled at. Limited seating - maybe 10 tables plus a window bar inside and maybe 7 outside tables. Definitely worth a visit.
