Evan's Cafe (The best place in Dayton for a gourmet, heart-healthy lunch!)

- Submitted by BESEVEN - 2 Comments

Resource Details Below

Often referred to as, "The best kept secret in Dayton," by folks who eat there regularly, this is an extraordinary little "hole-in-the-wall" restaurant, owned and operated by gourmet chef, Peter Simmons, who focuses exclusively on heart-healthy nutritious foods. He will work with any customer to customize meals to fit specific dietary needs. Don't go there looking for "meat and potatoes," though. There's no red meat on the menu. But if you want some amazing broiled salmon, tuna or tilapia quesadillas, a blackened chicken sandwich to die for, veggie lasagna, or some of the most heavenly homemade soups and salads you ever tasted, then this is the place to go!

If you're the adventurous type, ask for a Jerry's salad (it's a full meal). It's not on the menu, but everyone who works there knows what it is. Jerry is a regular customer for the past 8 years, who developed the recipe with Peter by combining two of his regular menu salads, among other ingredients.

You can send an email to psimm19184 (at) aol (dot) com and request to be put on his email list to know in advance what the daily specials are.

Open M-F, 11-2:30, this is a lunch only restaurant. There is parking in the rear of the building or across the street, although it's also legal to park on the street in front of the building. There is an entrance in the front and in the rear of the building.

Forgot to mention, they will be closed the week of August 18th (that doesn't happen often).
