GREAT place to walk with kids in strollers OR kids on their own two feet. You can take them into the nature center to view the exhibits also.
The park has three main walks. The Tanglewood vines walk is 1/3 mile and made for people (like me) with a disability. It's fairly flat with only a few ups and downs. If you show up early in the AM or Later in the evening at sunset, you might see a herd of deer. The broken ridge trail is 2/3 of mile. It's a bit more strenuous and I didn't like it I found it not interesting or challenging. The last trail is a REAL trial trail. Now known as the "Hickory Ridge" trail, it used to be known as the "little tear's" trail. (aka you cried coming out) It starts out quite nice, but then goes steeply into the "valley". You are rewarded with a small creek running clear at the bottom. This trail has a lot of wild flowers every spring. IF you "chicken out" you CAN take the short cut and not go quite as deep into the valley.
This is a GREAT family oriented, handicapped accessible park. All the trails are blacktoped.
Be sure to check the Webpage for all the events. Our children LOVED them when they were younger.

I've been there a few times and I LOVE it! I've actually done all three trails in one day!!
It is definitely a beautiful place. The only problem I have with it is the "no dog policy." My poor old dog probably couldn't handle it anyway.
Depen
ding on which trail you choose, you can really get a good workout.

Powder Valley Conservation Nature Center does not allow dogs. So if you like exercising with Mr. Spunky - he will have to skip this trip. There are also wild turkeys & a fire in the winter near the bird viewing - listening area. The conservation area is a great place to walk and experience nature in the middle of St. Louis Co.
