I enjoy the Greenlake walk everyday rain or shine. Did anyone walk THE PATH OF LIGHTS?? Sure it was a little chilly but grab some gloves, a hat and a scarve and get out there and enjoy the sights.
Just walked Greenlake on Saturday with my bf in the rain, it was excellent! (and way less crowded!)
Greenlake is great if I want to walk and talk with a friend. It also makes for a great picnic place. There are some nice playstructures and a wading pool for little kids in the summer.
I walk Green Lake three mornings a week, rain or shine. I love the parade of dogs, the scenery, the birds and fantastic people watching. The path is split with walkers on the inside path and wheels (bikes, roller bladers, etc.) on the outside. The gravel path is farther away from the shoreline, and is less crowded. How busy the park is varies greatly depending on the time of day and weather. The path will be ringed with luminarias for the annual "Pathway of Lights" on Saturday, Dec. 13 2008 5:30 - 8:30.
I walked this with my girlfriend and another SP person last week. Nice walk and trail, but waaaay too crowded. Kind of hard to get a walking "rhythm" going because you have to stop or slow or speed up constantly due to other trail users.
Anyone interested in starting a Greenlake walking group in the evenings? I'm usually home from work by about 6pm and live a couple miles from greenlake. I would love to have a group of people to meet up with to walk the lake a few days a week. Say around 6:30 or 7pm. If you are interested drop me an email at espressogirl68@yahoo
