The Jordan River Parkway (JRP) is my favorite place to walk. It's nice to stroll along the river, under the trees, listen to the birds singing, the sounds of the water. It's peaceful and serene. And FREE! There are many access points along the trail. I've listed the addess for the Gardner Village entry point. If anyone wants to go for a walk on the JRP, give me a call and I'll go with you!

Make sure you have your puncture resistant tires between 900 South and 3300 South. A lot of Goatheads there. Also - if you run in Vibram's FiveFingers or some of the newer barefoot running "shoes" from Nike, the concrete that is present on a lot of the trail is too harsh.

The downtown entry points are on 200 S and about 10th West, at Jake and 400 South, at Jake Garn Blvd and 500 South, the west side of the river at 600 South, west of the Pioneer police station on 700 South, continuing at west side cross streets of Indiana, California, etc.
The best places to enter with a car drop off would probably be 400 South because there is a park and parking lot. If riding/running from home, probably also 400 South because the 516 bus drops off right by there and picks up right by thereas well. You can pick up the 516 bus on foot or with a bike in tow, get off at 1040 West (Goshen St) and pick up the trail half a block from there.

I looked at the route on Google Earth and it looks like you can continue on 700 west to 9000 south, veer west for a jog to just about 800 West, then pick the trail back up there through the Golf course parking lot entrance. That continues on to 11400 south, taking a pavement break but continuing a dirt double track to 12300 south and picking the pavement up again. That continues all the way to Lehi, pretty much, and to Utah Lake area. I live at 500 South and you can pretty well travel uninterrupted from SLC proper to Lehi and Saratoga Springs area with a few side trips where there is construction happening (about highway 201 area, right now.)

I live in West Jordan and have wondered where the closest, largest completed segment is. Is the trail unfinished from 8800 S. clear to 12300 S.? Can it still be used for walking or biking even though it isn't paved?
I am on this every day! The section between 4800 S to 7800 S is lovely. My girls and I have seen tons of baby ducks, geese, and for the first time this year, a flock of pelicans! They hung out on the river for about 2 weeks!
The section between 7800 S and 8800 S is also really lovely. However, the trail ends at 8800 S and Sandy needs to get it in gear and hook this end up with the 9800 S section!
