SweetGreen

Resource Details Below

SweetGreen is a Georgetown-located salad and yogurt shop. It has an interesting story, as the idea for the shop was developed by three Class of 2007 Georgetown University graduates in one of their business classes.

The store features fresh ingredients (many organic), where you can custom makes salads or order from one of the many specialized Chef-Crafted Salads, including the popular Guacamole Greens. Salads can also be turned into wraps.

The second major feature of the restaurant is its signature SweetFlow yogurt. This all-natural, fat free yogurt containes live and active cultures and is not sweetened by chemicals. Rather, it retains its plain but tart flavor. With a yogurt, you get a choice of 2 fresh fruits and a "crunch," such as Walnuts, Cookies, and so on. The yogurt is a great treat, as it has only 18 calories per ounce with no fat.

For those who are environmentally-friendly, SweetGreen serves biodegradable utensils, buys credits for sustainable energy, and strives to be as "green" as possible.

There are also SweetGreen locations in Dupont and Bethesda. Their shrimp is super tasty.

I love love love sweetgreen. There's one in Dupont now, and in the summer they have seasonal add-ins that they get from the local farmer's markets.

A tip: One salad is enough for two meals, especially if there's meat in it - I always get a to-go container and split the salad it in half first thing.

Lemon Tahini Dressing on the salad I got was way too sweet -- had to be loaded with sugar. The "chicken" in the salad was just dried up little nubbins. I might go back and order something else, but I would rather buy a big box of salad -- and real chicken -- at the grocery store, and use a healthier dressing .
