JTSSCWJ, Shelley Lake is off Millbrook Rd between Lead Mine Rd and Six Forks Rd.
I used to walk/jog with a friend at Shelley Lake several times a week. It was great because it was close to home, but it started to get so crowded it was becoming more difficult to do. It's a great place for families so a lot of people take their kids there on bikes, trikes, and even motorized ride on toys (Power Wheels). That can be frustrating for those who like to go at a fast pace. After several incidents of children underfoot we started going to Lake Lynn. There aren't usually as many kids there.

Hello,
I just moved to the area and I am trying to find walking places. this sounds nice and my brother migh like it as well. Can someone let me know where this is? Also any other palces of interst for walking / hiking? We went to Haris ake and got information on Jordan Lake- we were to walk the tobacco trail - but my brother was sick. I am not finding places to walk.
Thank you!

A friend from work and I just started walking at Shelley Lake. I had never been there before. But it is quite nice. It's also nice to have someone to walk with. The time flies by.
One leg of the Raleigh Greenway starts @ Shelley Lake and heads in two different directions. The greenway rules hold true, it is lovely with personal sightings of deer, rabbits, and squirrels. Very refreshing!
This is one of my favorite places to run!
I enjoy walking at Shelley Lake, too. I would caution against any woman walking alone. Some areas of trails are isolated and do not seem safe.
