Sat, 29 Apr 2017 16:14:49 EST 50 years ago http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/messageboard.asp?imboard=6&imparent=41643073 50 years ago this date was my last working day in the Air Force. I did that. According to the app (the active.com c25k app), I ran 2.16 miles with a 12:28 pace. This doesn't make sense to me. That isn't mathematically possible. Two miles in 22 minutes would be an 11-minute pace. Therefore, it stands to reason that 2.16 miles in 22 minutes would be a better than 11-minute pace, and definitely better than that 12:28 pace it thinks I had.
... My goal is to go 2-3 days a week and so far have been able to do that. What do you do on non gym days? I've tried to emphasize walking then.
252 Sat, 8 Apr 2017 16:23:28 EST Bad knees, bad hip. Kinda sick of it actually http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/messageboard.asp?imboard=6&imparent=41429229 I really want to exercise. Just yoga would be amazing. But the last couple of months where I live have been super humid and my knees sort of ballooned, this is the first time this has ever happened. Even with the slow change of seasons to cooler weather haven't completely helped this. My hip has always been a bit...meh, but having trouble moving with my knees has made that a little worse. I feel like I'm whinging. Stairs, omg, no please. I try and walk a few kms everyday, but the knees still ... What do you think? http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/messageboard.asp?imboard=6&imparent=41423075 I have a great idea! Spark: Why not pair with other companies like Vionics, Nike, Nautica, Nature Valley, other sports and health companies in terms of using our Spark Points to save on those companies products? For example: Save 5$ on Vionics shoes with 75 Spark Points, save 5$ on 2 boxes of Nature Valley bars with 100 Spark Points? It would give everyone something to use their Spark Points on instead of just virtual gifts and would benefit both Spark and the other companies? Sound good? Wha... Fri, 7 Apr 2017 11:05:11 EST Need help http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/messageboard.asp?imboard=6&imparent=41413248 I am a fitness tracker junkie, and I have settled ( until the next great device comes out) on the fitbit charge 2 and the apple watch series 2. I love both devices for different reasons. I know sparkpeople syncs with both fit bit and applehealth. So I am sure I can't have both devices synced to my account. I currently have my fitbit linked to spark people. Which is better?? Any thoughts?? Thu, 6 Apr 2017 18:43:49 EST Running really slow - on treadmill even http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/messageboard.asp?imboard=6&imparent=41412688 I used to run 5k in 25 minutes - 11 months ago - and I actually gained almost 20 lbs in this past year! And so I joined Spark today as now I can hardly break a 15 minute mile on 1% incline treadmill - and after 2.5 miles... I am really sweaty (my treadmill is in a room with ac). and cannot wait for just 3 mikes to finish. I am really freaked out by this. Treadmill even at 1.5 incline is easier than outside - so what is wrong with me? Thu, 6 Apr 2017 12:23:00 EST Need advice on maximum heart rate http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/messageboard.asp?imboard=6&imparent=41404010 So I've been looking up things about what my target heart rate should be, which seems to be 200 minus my age (which is 33). But I've seen no research or resources for people who are initially very sedentary before they start working out, people with very high BMI's (mine is 73), or even people with heart issues. (I don't have heart issues but I do have very bad heart related anxiety, as you can probably tell by all this googling.)

I'm definitely going to talk to my doctor about thi... Wed, 5 Apr 2017 21:58:49 EST Calories burned during heavy Spring Cleaning http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/messageboard.asp?imboard=6&imparent=41402590 Today I decided to clean out my son's room to turn it into my new fitness room. He moved out about 2 years ago and left a lot of his things behind.I worked on this room for 5 1/2 hours packing heavy books, getting up and down on a chair removing old posters, hanging new pictures, taking I don't know how many trips to the garage moving boxes and garbage bags. I was sweating my butt off. I went to the fitness tracker and entered heavy cleaning or house cleaning and it said for 330 minutes I bu... Wed, 5 Apr 2017 16:49:00 EST Jump Squats- Hurt Knee! http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/messageboard.asp?imboard=6&imparent=41400075 I was doing HIIT yesterday and my knee started really hurting after doing some jump squats. It keeps "giving out" and sometimes there is a sharp stabbing pain. Also when I straighten my leg my knee sort of has a sensation of building pressure followed with a little pop. I am worried! Anyone else experience this post workout and did it go away or did you need to go to the doctor? Wed, 5 Apr 2017 12:17:07 EST Weight loss http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/messageboard.asp?imboard=6&imparent=41398704 I have now kept track of everything I have eaten for two months. I only lost one pound. I exercise everyday, three times per week at the gym and walking the days in between for at least 30 minutes. I have kept within the calories allotted to me. Is the fact that I am 81 years attribute to my failure to lose weight. Thank you.

Becoming a bit discouraged. Wed, 5 Apr 2017 10:18:56 EST Hiking is the best weight loss exercise EVER http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/messageboard.asp?imboard=6&imparent=41393159 I hate running. I do it because I can run intervals for 35 minutes and get a decent caloric burn in after work. I am also willing to do it outside in temps as low as 26 degrees.

But on the weekends...I go hiking! I joined Meetup.com and then joined a local hiking group. They plan 4 hikes per weekend and I drive - sometimes an hour - to go along. But I never regret it. Because I can be social while burning 2500-3000 calories! It's amazing! And now I even hike alone. For 8 - 10 mile... Tue, 4 Apr 2017 21:39:48 EST did my minimum http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/messageboard.asp?imboard=6&imparent=41392678 Got to just above 3 mis. today. Therefor I have been doing short cardio sessions throughout the day, examples: Mowing the lawn with an old style push mower, I have been doing ruffly 15 minutes at a time. Prepping garden beds, turning soil, weeding, I can handle that activity for approx 20 minutes at a time. I am also doing core training/squats/pushups/leg lifts in...
