I haven't strength trained like I want to, with the lack of heavy weights. The heaviest weight I have at home is only 35 pounds. And if you say, "just skip any obstacles you're not comfortable with" then obviously you don't know me very well.

edited to add: I'm not exactly scared that I can't complete the obstacles. I'm just panicking over the race in general. Thu, 21 Aug 2014 05:51:55 EST How to track DDR? So I have an old PS2 at home and recently picked up the DDR games along with a couple of dance mats so that my man and I have an alternative to going out for daily walks when we don't have the car. There's a calorie counter on the game built in in workout mode, but I'm not sure how accurate it is. The cardio certainly gets my heart rate up and breathing heavy, but I'm not sure how to track it. I guess what I'm asking is:

1) How accurate is the calorie counter? A google search just ... Thu, 21 Aug 2014 00:02:27 EST Is 20 minutes daily exercise okay to maintain? I've lost a lot of weight already and can't seem to find it in me to stick to these hour long workouts 6-7 days a week anymore. Since I lost weight I am much more confident and therefore out and about doing things with friends more. I know I still need to exercise though to maintain good health. I'm thinking of exercising daily, but for only 20-30 mins at a time instead of an hour. I feel it would be easier to keep up with than hour long sessions and that I could enjoy it that way. She wants to get down to 98 pounds which is her "perfect weight". I just don't understand this obsession on one number. I am happy anytime my BMI is 24.9 or below. And most of my adult life I have been overweight. Why would someone be so stuck on one number? Wed, 20 Aug 2014 15:44:24 EST Should I be stretching before my long walks? I have worked my way up to walking about 5 miles each morning. Most days my legs seem to be tight and hurt, which is slowing my time down. Other days, they are ok. I am wondering if I should stretch before I start my walk? I take the dogs with and they pull pretty hard, so could that be causing more leg pain? My legs seem to feel better after the 2-3 mile mark, but that doesn't make sense to me. When I go up and down a small hill, that seems to give a little relief for a very short time... Wed, 20 Aug 2014 07:22:12 EST Exercise after multiple blood tests? I have had seven vials of blood taken out within the past 48 hours, and I'm feeling pretty weak and woozy. Should I refrain from exercising today?

I'm petite and too underweight to donate blood (not because I'm underweight per se, but because a normal BMI at 5'1" is often not high enough to donate), so I suspect it's having an effect on me. It would be nice to know for the future. Wed, 20 Aug 2014 03:12:47 EST Do you use the exercise ball? I love Coach Nicole's 15 minute workout. Tue, 19 Aug 2014 12:39:46 EST water weight loss at the start of a diet Does anyone know how much weight that comes off initially during a diet/corrected eating habits is actually weight from water? Mon, 18 Aug 2014 10:06:21 EST Difficulty falling asleep after afternoon workout I work during the week (I'm in at 7AM and leave at 4PM). The best time that I can squeeze in a workout is typically in the afternoon, at around 6PM. That's when the group classes, that I'm interested in, are offered at my gym. I typically do zumba once a week (during the week days) and two days of water aerobics. On the weekend, I'll swim on Saturday morning for an hour, and either swim or do zumba at lunchtime, on Sundays. Whenever I work out in the afternoon, or in the evening, my body... Mon, 18 Aug 2014 09:43:43 EST Question on trivia question This question has gotten me for a while. It asks if it is true or false that walking 15 minutes can keep you from gaining weight if you don't change your eating. The answer is False.

If a person is not gaining, why wouldn't walking 15 minutes a day even help you lose a little bit or at least keep you from gaining weight then? So, a couple years back my mom thought it'd be a good idea to buy one of those big bulky Bowflex Treadclimbers and set it up in my room (but that's besides the point). Thu, 31 Jul 2014 04:55:53 EST Weight Gain With Caloric Deficit? I recently began what I thought would become a foolproof method of losing weight. However, instead of losing weight, I seem to be gaining it. I do about 45 minutes of upper-body strength training when I go to the gym 3 times a week, usually burning about 130 to 150 calories each visit. On the days I return home from my strength training at the gym, I get on my bike and burn another 400 to 500 calories on the bike path. On the four days of the week that I don't go to gym, I bike long/far enoug... I had set it as a goal for myself this year and was working well towards it - by exercising and eating right. And then i had a very major flare up of my arthritis in May. So the weight i had lost, has all come back and maybe more.
But... Wed, 30 Jul 2014 04:10:46 EST What's your favorite song to workout to? I love having upbeat music on when working out. I've been taking extra long hikes (for me) about once a week now, and I'm prone to migraines when I get dehydrated so I'm always sure to bring a few huge bottles of water.

So... my problem... I ALWAYS end up having to pee really really badly by an hour into the hike. I'm not quite poised enough to pop a squat behind a tree (read: super super clumsy), and those gadgets some girls use to do it standing up really freak me out. I've always envied men their ability to pee anywhere. <B... Sat, 19 Jul 2014 10:17:10 EST Edit Fitness Goals Tab Broken? However, I have been reading several articles that talk about running can stall weight loss because your body gets used to the long distances and doesn't work as hard to burn calories after a while.

My current schedule is this:
Monday - rest
Tuesday - walk/run 3 miles
Wednesday - cross train on the stationary bike for 30 min and ST
Thursday - walk/run 2 ... Fri, 18 Jul 2014 11:20:26 EST walking v running I have just read an article (on-line) that said walking was as good as running. Counted calories has worked well for me in the past, along with rigorous exercise, but with my two little kids, it's hard to find time to work out the way I'm used to. I used to fast one day a week as well (not fluids of course). That always kept my weight in check, but it's hard to be food celibate when I have to prep 3 meals a day for everyone else these days.. I have cut out soda and extra milk/juice. I'm eating more organic and drinking more water, taking supplements etc. I did weigh... Mon, 14 Jul 2014 20:27:33 EST Isn't the treadmill supposed to be "easier"...? I've read quite a few places that when you're used to working out on a treadmill, switching to the road or a track can be quite the wakeup call and it's much harder. However, I seem to be experiencing the opposite. My natural walking pace when I walk outside or on trails seems too fast when I try to do it on a treadmill. I do often set a decent incline on the treadmill, but I notice it still feels fast even at a 1-2% incline which is what is supposed to "offset" the treadmill belt and make it...
