I'm a weakling and I can't even do 1 push-up on my toes. I can do 10 to 12 push-ups on my knees and do a couple sets of those before my muscles have had it. So what is the best way to progress to "real" push-ups? just keep doing knee push-ups until I am stronger? Or should I do incline push-ups on my toes and decrease the incline until I can do them prone? Or the third option, do seated chest-press machine until I'm stronger? There is a circuit there along with treadmills, eliptical and bikes, weights and floor exercise area. I am a member and since I am over 65 I don't have to pay a membership fee its called silver sneakers and it is great you can do anything that you want. Since I don't have to pay the membership fee I have decided to get a personal trainer 2 days a week. It very helpful to have someone you have to be accountable too and he is very helpful to me since I am older and have broken a lot of bones in my younger years. I am very bless... I saw an article on sparkpeople about the waist to hip ratio calculator. I tried it out and it said .85 and up was obese and meant a high risk of health issues. Well it kind of freaked me out because I got a .96. I am 5 foot 3, I weigh 126 pounds. I don't think I am obese! My waist is 27.25 and my hips are 28. Fri, 16 Jan 2015 19:44:57 EST Burst training and blood pressure I just got back into the exercise routine about three weeks ago. Most of my exercise has been with the recumbent exercise bike for around 30 minutes 5 days a week. This time I have added three, hard-as-I can-peddle one-minute bursts, separated by a few minutes of rest between each at the end. I have taken my blood pressure reading the last couple of days and it has dropped by 20 points on both systolic and disystolic. I am amazed, and think the burst training must be doing this. For example, the calorie totals computed by shows like 230 calories a workout that is an intense 45 to 50 minutes.
