Fri, 16 Jan 2015 19:44:57 EST Burst training and blood pressure http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/messageboard.asp?imboard=6&imparent=35394858 I just got back into the exercise routine about three weeks ago. Most of my exercise has been with the recumbent exercise bike for around 30 minutes 5 days a week. This time I have added three, hard-as-I can-peddle one-minute bursts, separated by a few minutes of rest between each at the end. I have taken my blood pressure reading the last couple of days and it has dropped by 20 points on both systolic and disystolic. I am amazed, and think the burst training must be doing this. Wed, 14 Jan 2015 10:37:20 EST Winter - ugh! http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/messageboard.asp?imboard=6&imparent=35374787 Well, it's been two weeks of Arctic vortex and ice all over the place so walking is treacherous. I saw one "brave soul" the other day trying to run in wind chill -12 degrees - her face was beet red and the word "nut" came to mind. I can't wait until the temp gets at least to 32 to melt some of this ice so I can get out and join the "nuts". My solution, to keep the weight off and maybe decrease at least a little, is to cut back on the calories. I only burn about 180 when walking - so I cut...
