For a year I got lazy and did nothing because work got crazy and I just didn't make the time. Mon, 27 Apr 2015 18:41:56 EST Activities after Partial Knee Replacements http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/messageboard.asp?imboard=6&imparent=36193546 Hello all! Anyone here with partial (or total) knee replacements? I had bilateral partial knee replacements January 27th. I am itching to get back to exercise - more than a brief walk or stationary bike. I have talked to my Ortho and he doesn't really have an opinion one way or the other as to what I SHOULD do - just that I shouldn't run, jump, etc. - because it shortens the life of the replacement. I am "only" 41 so would like these to last as long as possible - any suggestions? Weight... Mon, 27 Apr 2015 15:58:08 EST What's your running mantra? http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/messageboard.asp?imboard=6&imparent=36188647 I've got some races coming up, and I'd love to learn some new running mantras to encourage me when I'm out there getting it done.

A current fave of mine is "today is a great day for a run." Sun, 26 Apr 2015 23:44:36 EST How much time does it take? http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/messageboard.asp?imboard=6&imparent=36187056 I've joined a gym franchise called Orangetheory. It's 1 hour workout with 30 min on the treadmill and 30 min of strength training. I go around 4x week. This has been my 3rd week and I have not seen any results. I've also been eating around 1300 calories per day and minimum carbs. I have not lost any weight or inches. I drink plenty of water. I need to lose about 10-15 pounds. I know there are a lot of other benefits to exercising, but I wonder if you can share with me how long it took... Sat, 25 Apr 2015 17:29:28 EST 2 weeks coming to a close... http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/messageboard.asp?imboard=6&imparent=36179238 I feel so much better than I did when I started 2 weeks ago. I don't know how much if any weight I've lost since my scale only goes to 400. My approximation is when I started I was 450+ so I hope I am making progress. I have eaten clean about 99.99% of the time over the course, I think the worse thing I have eaten is probably a sugar free fudge pop. My goal was to walk about 10 miles a week when I started but so far in 14 days I have walked approx. 32 miles and today isn't over yet :). <BR... Sat, 25 Apr 2015 15:53:32 EST Question about my elliptical workout?? http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/messageboard.asp?imboard=6&imparent=36178764 At the YMCA I did 35 minutes on a elliptical. I wasn't smart enough/didn't think to write down my total strides or strides per minute. But I did right down the distance the machine said I traveled. 1.99 What does that mean? It's a precor elliptical. About 5 years old. No, I don't have the manual. The guy at the Y this morning in the workout room looked at me as if I was trying to ask him the question in chinese.

Can anyone help? thanks! I haven't been able to do any exercises for the past few weeks, until recently doing strength training for the upper body. The problem is to lose body fat you're supposed to do both strength training AND cardio. I tried swimming today and I know it'll work as long as I don't use my legs (ankle hurts when I kick), but is there anything else I can do? It'll take at least a month for my ankle to become more stable, but I want to exercise now! I've never shaved or waxed it, so the hair was pretty long. It was fine and blonde so I never had an issue with it. Calf pain/cramping while running/walking? http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/messageboard.asp?imboard=6&imparent=36171266 Hi!
I started running about two months ago (3/9/15). For the first week or so, my left calf muscle was very sore and cramped AFTER I ran. I had been going about 1 mile a day, alternating between 2-3 minutes running and 5-ish minutes walking. After the first two weeks passed, the soreness after runs went away, but now I'm experiencing painful calf cramps while running/walking. The pain is worse in my lower calf muscle, but both muscles do hurt. Now, I generally run 5 min., then walk 3-ish... Why would low weight hi reps NOT be effective? Isn't the idea to work to the point where your muscles can't do more? If that happens with low weight hi rep, isn't...
