I noticed that they are now giving 5 points for every article read, while workouts are now a purely time based point system.

I admit to being a slave to the point system, it does seem to motivate me pretty effectively, but it irritates me that they have increased the points you can get for reading, rather than increasing the points you get for actually exercising or tracking nutrition. Wed, 10 Jul 2013 10:38:20 EST Eating or Exercise gives the biggest bang? I am a health coach who helps people get to and maintain a healthy weight. Whenever I talk to people about losing weight, the first thing they talk about is their workout plan (or lack thereof!). This is also how I used to approach it in my younger years.

My experience has shown me that nutrition is BY FAR the most impactful factor to weight loss. Why do most people focus so much on exercise and treat their nutrition as an afterthought? Does this sound familiar: when people eat s... Tue, 9 Jul 2013 17:12:52 EST Why doesn't the tracker have deadlifts? It seems like when I read elsewhere, deadlifts are one of the most commonly recommended exercises. Here, they are not even listed in the tracker. I know sparkpeople isn't really into strength training, but this still surprising.

Have you found other lifts that you thought were "standard" that you haven't been able to find on here?
Tue, 9 Jul 2013 15:02:10 EST Men's tall clothes My husband has been doing an amazing job losing size lately. We're planning a trip to Vegas in August and I'm pretty sure he's going to need new clothes and he's planning to shop in Vegas. We're from Canada and he pretty much always shops at the same 2 stores here because he knows they have tall sizes.

There are a LOT of stores that carry tall sizes only online, can any of you suggest stores that are likely to have tall sizes in store? He actually likes shopping most of the time... Mon, 8 Jul 2013 13:17:52 EST Motivation to lose weight I work shift work and I don't have the motivation or the will power to do anything when I get home. I work very long hours, but I want to try to lose my weight so I can enjoy spending time with my wife and son. I have a lot of health problems but they could be overcome if I lose weight. It is hard to lose weight when all I want to do is eat, rest spend time with my family, go fishing, and work. Can any body offer me some suggestions. Mon, 8 Jul 2013 03:59:01 EST Returning Today I'm so fed up for letting myself get to this point.

I did Sparkpeople a few years ago, and did fairly well. Then I got back to my old habits and here I am.

I need to lose about 38 pounds. Looking to only lose about 1-2 pounds a week.

Plan to hit this website often both for support and as a substitute for that "mindless eating" that I am so guilty of doing. Wed, 3 Jul 2013 09:18:07 EST Need help from guys that hit or are close to goals I posted this in the nutrition board, but it really isn't getting many responses and a response or two from someone kind of makes me cringe because the advice was do cardio, which I clearly stated I do, but obviously people don't take the time to read when posting advice. So hoping you fine guys can help me out here. I'm sure we all know that men and women bodies are different, they both have different looks, goals, etc so I think posting here I will be able to find what I'm looking for.
... Benny Fri, 14 Jun 2013 10:54:52 EST Formula 1 anybody? Just curious if there's any other F1 fans out there? I've been in love with that sport since I can remember. Auto racing in general, but F1 in particular has always been more exciting to me than say, NASCAR or even INDY racing. The Canadian race this past weekend was very good and I'm looking forward to the first practice session at Silverstone on the 28th. Thu, 13 Jun 2013 08:46:01 EST Workout Partner Hi Guys, have a question for you. I'm married and my wife and I have been together for going on 12 years now. We are friends with another couple who have been married for some time now. My wife really isn't in to workout out.

I built a small home gym in my garage and her and her husband were over last weekend and I showed it to them. Ok guys, I am 31 years old and I have a herniated disc in my lower back. As a result of this injury I spent 2 years in a wheelchair, and another 6 years using a walker due to the amount of pain I experience. Not being able to exercise caused ALOT of weight gain. 9 months ago I weighed 470 Lbs, and I have lost over 200 lbs SO FAR. I use a stationary recumbent bike to take my back out of my exercise routine as well as using yoga designed for stretching the back. So, my question is; Is there any... Tue, 4 Jun 2013 11:32:35 EST Jumpstart to Skinny -- thoughts for the guys So I just started Bob Harper's Jumpstart to Skinny -- I lost my way a bit and gained a few back, so I'm trying to jumpstart again. I thought the skinny rules Bob had were pretty good as a reminder system (and I think the drinking water immediately before a meal thing actually works well).

So I'm following the guide in the new book -- going to commit to the three week ultra-low-calorie diet. I'm on vacation, wanted to get out and walk for the exercise to increase my distance. Wouldn't you know it I caught a cold spent two days trying to get rid of it. Feeling better got dressed was finally going for that walk. I figured I could stop of and get a paper notarized during my walk. Hi, me and my husband are always struggling to be on the path of more healthier choices, but I walk and are more active then him and I enjoy it. He on the other hand on feels that watching what you eat will work for him, well it hasn't so far. To his credit, he has lost 11 lbs, but we have been watching since January. He is a big guy of 360 lbs, standing at 6'4. I believe he should at least lose 50 lbs and he will regain some energy and most importantly his confidence. He is not happy at this... I could not justify spending $150 dollars per week on gas with my Dodge Challenger. Just love racing to work with that big engine. To my surprise I really like driving that pint sized car. I can easily zip through traffic and the money I save on gas pays for the car plus some. The Challenger is now the weekend car. I can't believe how much fun it is to drive a slow car fast vs. a fast car slow. Has anyone been surprised with a purchase you had to make?
