Eesh. A day of gluttony. Not quite sure how I feel about this Thanksgiving, it's the first one I've ever been through whilst trying to lose weight. I've decided to go ahead and partake in a little bit of everything - I am taking my portion control containers with me to the table in an attempt to not overdo. Wed, 23 Nov 2016 08:09:24 EST Keep portions-even of veggies--small Many years ago, a dietician told me not to be in the habit of having a huge bowl of anything, regardless of calorie count. You get used to eating a certain quantity and your stomach gets used to downing large amounts of food. So even though having a huge salad today sounds good, if I am out tomorrow and the choices are not so healthy, my body will still be able to eat a large amount without feeling overly full. Wed, 23 Nov 2016 00:58:53 EST Measure in grams The first time you input a new food, measure it in grams. I have an inexpensive scale that lets me put a plate on it and reset it to 0. I then measure everything in grams. That way, I can better track how much food (or ironically, how little) I am eating and have a better idea of both calories and nutrition. This way, I can more easily have just a few bites of something or a portion of an item and still be fairly accurate.
