Don't misunderstand me. I love them! I think what I said was that raw mushrooms don't have MUCH flavor. I love eating mushrooms sauteed or roasted. Heat brings out their flavor.

I don't know why anyone would say mushrooms have no flavor, Duh, that's why I eat them is because of their flavor and texture. Now how do I get off this mushroom ride, seems once you check you want emails for replies you get them forever. I like mushrooms, but I don't need any more.... :)

One of the nutritionists told me to try tempeh instead of mushrooms. I do like Tempeh, but I haven't tried this out, mostly because tempeh does take some preparation. But it makes sense that it would work, because of the texture.

I steam it and then sautee it in EVOO (olive oil). They said to crumble the tempeh.

Worth a thought? I dislike mushrooms too, whether raw or cooked. People who love them always tell me, "They don't have any flavor" and my question is always, "Then why are you putting them in all these recipes?

We do not eat either, I use cream of broccoli or other cream of soup , as far as wanting fresh/whole shrooms, I ususally look over receipe to see what I may be able to substitute...usually another veg. like broccoli, califlower, asparagus, carrots...

I'm with you on that whole hype on mushrooms, I can't stand the things. Whenever I find recipes that is the first ingredient I search for I cross it out and see how the recipe looks from that point on. I have substitued cream of chicken soup on occassion.

I love mushrooms and mushroom soup, DH does not. I use the soup in casserole type stuff, and he often doesn't notice, especially if there are other strong flavors in the dish.

If it is a mushroom based dish you are probably out of luck, if it is just a component you can probably leave it out and any of the "Cream of" whatever soups are all interchangable, just slightly different flavor according to the soup. If you dont want to use them at all, a general white sauce usually will substitute.

I love, love, love mushrooms but not raw. There is no point in eating raw mushrooms because they don't have much flavor. Have you eaten sauteed mushrooms in Pam and garlic? I ate so many mushrooms during my first pregnancy!

I also don't eat mushrooms. Whenever a recipe calls for cream of mushroom soup, I will substitute either cream of celery or cream of chicken soup depending on what the rest of the ingredients are. If the recipe calls for fresh or canned mushrooms, I just simply leave them out. (However there are some recipes that look as though the mushrooms make up a major part of the meal - in that case, I will skip that recipe and find something else.)

Glad to know that there are others out there who don't eat mushrooms - everyone I know LOVES them! I hate those nasty little fungi... I can't see what people like about them at all!

I don't like mushrooms either; I don't know if it would work for all recipes, but I have substituted cream of celery soup for mushroom.

Also, if a recipe calls for mushrooms and other veggies, I just leave the mushrooms out and add more of the other vegetables.

Can the Spark recipes that call for mushrooms or mushroom soups be done with somethingelse? Can the mushrooms or mushroom soup be left out?

Please help as some of these recipes sound real good.
