Well done Glass1065!

By the way, last year there was also a Mother of the bride thread and we still keep in touch - we are now "Mothers of the Bride after the wedding"!!!!!!!!!!!!

Enjoy this time - the build up to the wedding is all part of the excitement - and its over all too quickly.

I have lost 25 pounds since January. My goal was 50. I am happy with the 25. I have mostly lost in my butt and hips but it was nice trying on dresses two sizes smaller than usual.

I am a Mother of the Bride on August 25, 2007. I have just over two months to lose the weight I've been trying to lose for several years. I know I won't reach goal but would settle for 10 lbs at this point. I'm quite active and fairly fit - it's this midlife midriff and the triple chins that has me so down. I've ordered and returned 10 dresses/outfits now... have one dress held back as a possibility and will continue to shop online. The few lbs. I've lost have made a big difference in how things fit but I hate the standard MOB attire out there and go figure, that's the stuff made for my middle-aged body. Nice to see a thread on here for wedding Mothers. Hello and good luck to all.

Oh my goodness! Last year I was mother of the bride twice! No weddings this year! It was however the best motivation that I could ever have - I loose weight really slowly, but I did (with the help of sparkpeople) manage to loose almost 20 pounds.

However, that yoyo is always around the corner, and during the winter, I seemed to go from one bout of the flu to another, and slowly most of the weight returned. I am now trying very hard to find that motivation again, but its hard going.

Its easy to tell others what to do, but even when you have a bad day or week, just pick yourself up and carry on - otherwise you know that the scale wont move downwards at all.

And, one more thing, on the day of the wedding - you will all look beautiful, no matter what your weight is, the happiness shines thru!!

I am also mother of the groom July 7, 2007. That is just a month away. I am pushing myself for atleast 10 more pounds! I haven't even bought my dress yet cause the one I like is a size smaller than I currently wear. Good luck to you!

Hi, I am 'mother of the groom' in August and I have quite a lot of weight to lose between then and now. I have always been overweight, but never this bad before. However, with the support here I am sure I will lose it.

Perhaps I should post a topic on Yoyo dieting rather than "Mother of the Groom"

No wedding, but welcome to Spark!!!
I am however familiar with the yo-yo effect.
It has been the story of my life for the past thirty years (before that I was skinny-go figure). Since joining Spark almost a year ago, i have been able to find that consistency that was lacking . I may fall off the wagon for a meal or a day, but then i jump right back on and keep going in the right direction! LOL
blessings to you,
Bonnie

I seem to be on a Yoyo trying to make the Mother of the Groom look good on July 7. Anyone else celebrating a wedding in 2007
