I laughed all the way through this article. Clever.
Please write one every year. Maybe you already do and I just have to look.
Eating Well magazine (Jan. 2011) had an article "Odes to Foods I have to Give Up On This Damned Diet" (something like that) by Colin something or other. It made me laugh, too.

This is one of the reasons why cooking at home is the way to go for me. It's horrible that in order to make something "good" you have to do it so "bad".

Darn - I LIKE Denny's. Haven't been there in over a year though, and I guess I won't go back.

Yuk,these all sound disgusting! Fortunately I've never had a taste for fast food... my parents never game me any as a kid.

John...your writing is a delight! Classic, I tell you! Classic:

"salt with a deadly weapon"
"great way to flock up your diet"
“I’ll be bawk…for my defibrillator paddles!”

My inner nutritional perv would love to get into that Starbucks frappuccino thingie...oh, yeah, babe!

Man, I loved the Denny's Scrambles too!

Guess that's why I'm trying to lose weight, though.

Overall, a very informative list that made me cringe each time I ran across something I've eaten before (let me tell you, I cringed more than once!)

Great list! Have been trying to get my husband to think about calories before ordering, but it's a slow process for him. He's a BIG fan of Bacon Cheeseburgers, and loves the Baconator. When I get the chance, I cook the burgers at home for him, substituting Turkey Bacon and Cheddar cheese made with 2% milk. I also tend to buy the high-grade Angus beef, which is healthier (and smokes less on the grill.)

Just reading about these "meals" and I feel sick! Who eats all this? Even while binging I never ate more than 1000 calories at one sitting. Bleurgh!!!! And Im happy to report that I have managed a 3 month streak of "not pigging out". Woohoo!

I am absolutely positively flabbergasted at this list. I havent ever had anything on it, but perhaps if I had acess I would have. I cant believe that someone will sell you something with 72gms of fat in it just to make a buck.
It never has been a better time to take care of my health and try to watch what I eat.
I cant believe it!

Now I realize why I had lap band surgery... just about all of those make my favorite food list. *sigh. Though, Denny's... I haven't been there in years and years and years... but, IHOP was our substitute.

My fiancee eats probably everything on this list--or would if he had the chance. He's gone out of his way to go get the Baconater on a few occasions. Yikes!

Yup I love the Pizza Hut Deep Dish, haven't had a chance to eat the Pizza Hut double deep dish though. Thats prolly for the best. I am on a 21 day no cheat - clean diet right now so that stuff will not touch my lips. Matter of fact I can't afford to eat that stuff on my cheat days either.

Well, I've never come close to eating any of these particular foods in my entire life. I have however, made poor food choice and done so willingly and knowingly.

Nutritional information for these foods, is freely and widely available. Many people simply choose not to educate themselves or having educated themselves decided they will eat it anyway.

The companies that provide this food do so in response to consumer demand. I have yet to hear that a person was held at gunpoint by a Starbucks' barista and forced to consume a Venti Mocha Frappucino. If consumers start demanding healthier choices the companies will change their menu items.

But why only focus on restaurant/fast food? Most people eat food purchased at a grocery store and prepared at home. A person can buy a frozen deep dish double crust pizza with 4 types of cheese and 3 types of meat in the freezer section of any grocery store that could definitely hold its own against the Pizza Hut pizza listed here.

In fact, I could buy all the ingredients for the foods listed and prepare dishes at home that are WORSE nutrition-wise than anything listed here.

Educate people, get them to truly care about their health and choices will change. This in turn will change what people order at restaurants or buy at the grocery store and will alter what foods or meals companies offer.
