Here are my top 3 secrets to success:
- Have a plan and keep it simple. I always get asked "what did you do?" Largely, it's in your head. You have to have a plan and commit to it. This has to be something you can do long-term—not a diet, but a lifestyle change. Plan for a lifestyle and change your mindset toward your life. Things can change in your life, but the basics of your plan do not have to.
- Stay committed. Commit to changing your lifestyle, otherwise your goals are just words and ideas. If you don't commit to it, you're just talking again. You can keep your plan flexible and adapt it from time to time to keep things fun and motivating. For example, change up your workouts every so often to keep seeing results and doing new things that you can stick with.
- Love yourself. This is the hardest thing to do and something that I'm still working on. Learn to say thank you when someone gives you a compliment. I was heavy all my life. I started freaking out when I began losing weight. When I saw myself in the mirror, I had a hard time accepting it, especially when other people said positive things about me. It doesn't matter where you are on your journey, you have to love yourself. If you don't love yourself, how do you expect others to love you? Keep that positive attitude while you're going through your journey. Just practice saying thank you. You cannot hear it enough: Love yourself.
