Buying Butternut Squash

Look for:
squash that has an even cream color, and is firm and heavy for its size.

squash that has soft spots, is dull and wrinkled skin or is light for its size.

Seasonality: Late summer, fall and winter

Storing Butternut Squash

Store squash in a cool, dark place for up to a month. Once cut, wrap in plastic and refrigerate up to 5 days

Preparing Butternut Squash

Rinse and cut lengthwise. Remove and discard the seeds and excess fiber. Peel skin if desired.
