Buying Chives

Look for:
chives that are fresh and uniform in size with evenly colored green leaves.

Avoid:
chives that show signs of wilting, are dry or yellowing.

Storing Chives

Do not wash chives until ready to use them. Wrap fresh chives in a damp paper towel and refrigerate in a plastic bag for up to 1 week.

Preparing Chives

Wash chives before use and cut them with a sharp knife or with kitchen scissors.
