Buying Currants

Look for: currants that are firm and round. Currants grow in loose clusters, similar to grapes, and should be 1/4 inch in diameter.

Avoid: currants that are soft and are labeled as seedless. If a currant is labeled as seedless, it is really a seedless grape.

Seasonality: Summer

Storing Currants

Refrigerate and use within 2-3 days, or freeze currants. Freeze currants up to 6 months.

Preparing Currants

Freeze or dry currants if they won't be consumed within a few days.
