Buying Mulberries

Look for:
mulberries that are plump and red, purple or black in color, unless purchasing the white mulberry from East Asia.

Avoid:
avoid mulberries that are white, green or pale yellow, as that is a sign they are not mature, (unless they are white mulberries). Avoid mulberries that are soft and bleeding as they spoil easily.

Seasonality: White and red are available in late spring; black mulberries are available in summer

Storing Mulberries

Refrigerate unwashed mulberries in a sealed plastic bag up to 1 week.

Preparing Mulberries

Place berries in a bowl of cold water, then gently pat dry. Pinch off the stem before use.
