"Energy, Excitement, Enthusiasm...Executed Every Day" is the driving force behind Mimi's Cafe. Known for warm hospitality and fresh-cooked meals, this casual dining chain has plenty of deluxe burgers, tempting fried appetizers, and oversize platters. Skip those and look for the Fresh & Fit portion of the menu for health conscious options.

  • It is possible to enjoy a calorie wise breakfast if you are dining before noon. Select Two "AA" Large Eggs served with sliced tomatoes, bacon and orange juice (332 calories, 16 g fat, 622 mg sodium) or a Low-Fat Fitness Egg White Omelet with fresh mushrooms, broccoli and diced tomatoes served with orange juice (506 calories, 10 g fat, 838 mg sodium).

  • If an entrée salad is what you have in mind, there are two nutrient rich options you might enjoy. Mimi's Chopped Cobb Salad with turkey, bacon, avocado, green onions, egg, tomatoes and crumbled bleu cheese served with a fat-free balsamic vinaigrette dressing (399 calories, 22 g fat, 848 mg sodium) provides a complete meal and while the fat content is slightly high, the avocado provides a "healthy'" type of fat. The Chicken, Fruit and Baby Greens Salad is another good choice with broiled chicken served on baby greens, dried cranberries, feta cheese, tomatoes and fruit tossed in fat-free balsamic vinaigrette dressing (425 calories, 7 g fat, 633 mg sodium).

  • If you are interested in a healthier sandwich options, consider Half a Fresh Roasted Turkey Breast Sandwich dry (no mayo) and served with fresh fruit (336 calories, 9 g fat, 330 mg sodium). If you prefer a vegetarian option, there is a Veggie Burger served with a side of fresh fruit (396 calories, 6 g fat, 1,060 mg sodium).

  • There are two entree options that will most likely be "just enough" to fit your appetite. Consider the Just Enough Petite Citrus Salmon served with baby spring greens and strawberries tossed in fat-free balsamic vinaigrette dressing (365 calories, 15 g fat, 292 mg sodium) if you are in the mood for fish. If chicken is more your taste, the Just Enough Sweet and Sour Chicken and stir-fried vegetables, glazed with ginger sweet and sour sauce served over jasmine rice (555 calories, 19 g fat, 209 mg sodium) might be just what you have in mind.

  • If you need a low-sodium meal option the Slow Roasted Turkey Breast served with orange relish, jasmine rice and steamed vegetables (610 calories, 13 g fat, 138 mg sodium) is a balanced meal that is one of the lowest in sodium of any casual dining restaurant.

  • Usually nutrition-minded people shy away from desserts when dining away from home, but there are a couple of Petite Treat options that might fit your meal-planning needs. For a sweet treat, consider the Chocolate Mousse with fresh strawberries and strawberry puree (131 calories, 8 g fat, 11 mg sodium), Lemon Mousse with blueberries and strawberry puree (114 calories, 6 g fat, 31 mg sodium) or Raspberry Mousse with whipped cream (123 calories, 10 g fat, 13 mg sodium).
