  • Looking to purchase a stability ball. Glad to know the right size. I would have bought one that was too large. - 7/24/2014 8:03:21 AM
  • I was totally amazed when my daughter used the Stability Ball when she went into labor and while at the hospital. Even the doctor couldn't tell she was in labor without checking with the nurse who was checking her vitals. I sure wish I'd known about the SB when I was having my children.

    Thanks, SP! You're the best.

  • I had to deflate mine since we down-sized homes as they take up a lot of space and re-inflating them every time is toooo much trouble which is too bad because they are helpful.

BTW I used to teach Lamaze classes and using them in class for alleviating back pain strategies during pregnancy and during LABOR was always a part of class. Sitting on them during labor opens the pelvis which makes more room for the baby to move down while providing counter-pressure on the spreading pelvic bones. This is evidence-based. Leaning over it either on a chair, bed, or on the floor also eases back pain/back labor and helps the baby rotate to an optimal position. I know, this is TMI but if there are any pregnant moms out there, it can be quite helpful. I was also a doula!

  • SANDI, I'm well over the amount that she said and I have been using my ball every week for about the past year and love it, at no time did I feel as if my particular ball was going to pop, I believe I purchased it in a kit at Barnes and noble, the same kit I think is at Target as well and I have the ball recommended for 5'7-6'0 tall. :) It took some getting use to balancing but I would just recommend that you go slowly and just try sitting on it lightly at first to get a feel for the ball and how to balance on it... Stability ball exercise have grown to be my favorite exercises of all... once you get your balance down I recommend trying crunches and squats using the ball, its great for those. ^_^ I hope my comment has helped you feel a little more comfortable about giving it a try. - 6/13/2014 3:57:48 AM
  • I am afraid to use the stability ball due to the possibility of falling off or it popping because of my weight. Are they really strong enough not to pop? - 4/18/2014 1:03:04 PM
  • Thank you! I never wanted to use the ball at my gym because I didn't know which one to use or what to do with it. I'm now checking out the other videos. - 3/26/2014 1:22:36 PM
  • I learned something new everyday.
Thanks for sharing, it helped me a lot - 3/26/2014 12:28:24 AM
  • I loved using my Swiss ball but it took up too much room (didn't help I lost all my exercises from the WCB when I went there) I used to take a class when I was hurt at work it was the best 30 minutes of the whole week. Of all the things I did there I missed that the most. - 3/12/2014 8:46:34 PM
  • So if my exercise ball is a little big, is it okay if it's a little underinflated? - 1/16/2014 1:34:43 PM
  • Thanks for the information I didn't know the size of the ball mattered , great now I know what size to get. - 1/13/2014 3:15:43 PM
  • So happy I found this.! You provided all the information I needed to feel like I could now use my 2 year old ball safely and with confidence. Thank you. Thank you . Thank you. - 1/3/2014 12:38:52 PM
  • Thanks for the reminder that I need to take my new one out of the box. Good know that I got the right size. I am looking forward to trying out the other videos with my ball. - 1/3/2014 1:45:58 AM
  • Most companies make three sizes, so you pick the one for your size

  • Great advise here but I have a question of concern here. Do all companies use the same yard stick for these ballsIt seems the one I purchased at (company #1 was smaller than the one I purchased @ company #2.
Could it be one might use a different grade of whatever it is they're made of?
Say you sit on a leather couch and along comes the salesman who explains that the one you sitting on has the top of the line leather, however,y
he leather you've chosen is slightly lower (say #5 on the list) so therefore will be less comfortable)
Just wonder if anyone might know the answer.
    Thanks Ginny - 12/27/2013 12:19:47 PM
  • Thanks, I purchased the wrong size thinking bigger was better. - 12/24/2013 9:45:18 AM
