Little Bits Add Up

At the end of every day I empty my wallet, purse and pockets of all loose change. I put it in an 8oz. container.

Stay Positive

When a plateau just won't break and you are doing all the right things, eating in range, exerciseing consistantly, weighing foods etc, etc - then I find that if I stay positive, KNOW that it will break when my body is good and ready, this helps me stay on track and the plateau always breaks.

Positive not only in what you say but in how you think.

We think if we do not say it out loud it does not matter. Who hears it anyway? YOU DO!!! Even in a joking manner this is still going to pull you down and enable you to continue to be negative. So if you are negative you are negative and positive you are positive, which are you?

The good old kitchen timer!

I've used my kitchen timer for years to fool myself into getting started. I set it for one minute, five minutes, etc. and tell myself that I only have to commit myself to whatever it is (exercise, etc.) till the timer rings. I always keep going once I get started!

Make No Provision to Fail

I don't keep things around my house that will tempt me. It is very unlikely that I will drive to the store if I am craving potato chips at night so I will make a healthy choice because that's all there is!

Make a pact with your exercise equiptment

As weird as this sounds it works for me. I PROMISED my treadmill and elliptical (and myself of course), that "if" I got on it I would stay on for my pre determined amount of time. Meaning, if I actually enter the room and get on the treadmill with my expectation of doing 30 minutes, I will.

Know They Amount Of Calories You Are Eating

Use the Spark People calorie tracker. Weigh, measure and track you calories. Don't just guess what you are eating. Not losing anything? Reduce your calories toward the lower range Spark People gave you and try that for awhile. Tracking really does work!
