Junk Mail

I have a trash can in the foyer. When I walk in the door, I go through the mail and toss any and all "junk mail". It never makes it any further into the house to pile up.

The Fives Game

Every time we (me or my husband) get a 5 dollar bill as change you MUST save it and put it in an evelope in our change jar. Its great except when you get 3 fives for change of a 20! Drats I say!! But I put them in the jar 'cuz that is the game!

No-Time Cleaning

I have a lot to juggle right now and my time is minimal....

When I need to declutter the house, I use a basket with handles. As I clean one room, anything that goes in another room goes into the basket. I don't waist time running back and forth!

All those great fruits

I love putting a tub of yogurt with a half cup of blueberries, one banana and a small container of fruit of choice in blender and enjoying knowing I am eating heathy. (Can freeze) tastes like you are cheating.

Be Prepared

I have my workout stuff, everything needed: socks, shoes, sport bra, water etc., right by my bed so when the alarm goes off at 5am I just roll over and put them on. My treadmill is in my bedroom as well, so then I just take a few steps to hop on it and get moving.

Hmmm....

This is a trick that a personal trainer taught me 15 years ago and I just remembered it. If you stand with your feet about a foot apart bend forward like an L and hold your tummy in. It strengthens your abs.

TV is brain candy.

I have to earn TV time. I DVR my favorite shows and they are not allowed to be played until I exercise. So, if I don't want to find out on the news who went home on the Biggest Loser then I've got to lace up my sneakers! I record about 1 hour then I hop on my elliptical. No commercials!

I've come a long way, baby.

Sometimes when I'm discouraged by how little progress I *seem* to be making, I'll pretend I've already lost a lot of weight to get where I am. If that were true, I'd already be proud of my progress! It helps me get through momentary setbacks.

"Gotta Have a Treat"

I like to eat a low-cal, fat-free cup of flavored yogurt when I just "have" to have a little something. I sprinkle a 1/2 Tablespoon of mini chocolate chips and mix them in for a nibble of dessert. It's particularly good with coconut yogurt! Yum.
