Have fun

I like exercising best when I am having fun- playing basketball, playing in the surf, running around after or with the kids.

secret is cleaning . . .

If there's a rainy Saturday or a spare evening, I'll set the timer for 20 minutes, turn on music or news, go into a room and clean what needs to be done. When the timer is done, I reset it, go to another location and repeat. Then repeat. After three or four units, some of which are vigorous, some not, I take a twenty minute tea and snack break, then go again. In three hours the house is clean, I feel great and I've moved nonstop for a big chunk of time. It works!

The 3 color , 3 plate rule

To add a wider variety of fruits and veggies to my diet, I made sure that I ate at least 3 colors of the rainbow on 3 plates of food a day.

Make exercise the solution to everyday problems

I do a short burst of light cardio to wake myself up in the morning , a few sun salutations when I'm stressed, a walk with my dog when I need some quiet time, and yoga to help my insomnia. Exercise is now inevitable part of my routine.

ordering food

think/rethink.
so often we go out to eat and we often wait until we are really hungry.
when going into a restaurant, look at the menu, make your selection, lay it down and wait a few minutes, then look again. giving yourself a few minutes to reconsider your first choice. this also goes for fast food.
allow the next person in line to go ahead of you, giving yourself time to look at the board once more.
at home, look in the fridge, close the door, wait 5 mins, then look again.

Stickers. Everytime I work out I put a sticker on my calendar.

I put the calendar where others can see it. It helps me see how many times I have worked out in a week or month. Plus if there isn't a sticker by Wednesday, I will get exercising. So I can get that sticker.

Always show up- you'll feel so much better

They say "you're only one workout away from a good mood"-SO TRUE!.
I've never regretted working out- doesn't have to be a sweaty session- a short walk, a short core workoutif pushed for time.
I have however regretted NOT working out & not woken properly that day, or I've kept a headache longer.

I'm not saying go hell for leather every day- just get SOME EXERCISE IN and reap the benefits long term

Eat Healthily
Move More
Sleep Better................be well
