Grilling Veggies

Use a cooling rack placed crosswise on your grill to keep vegetables in place and not falling through. Spray it with nonstick cooking spray to make it an easy job.

No fancy gear needed, nothing extra to store in the off-season.

Healthy Low Calories Snack

I keep home made hummus in the refrigerator, usually spinach edamame hummus as a quick snack. Sliced cucumber or zucchini make a healthy vehicle for the hummus. I also add it to wraps or pita bread sandwiches.

Cooking Meat

When cooking meat or poultry, remove it from the refrigerator 5 minutes before adding to a hot pan. If you put it in right away it shocks it and it becomes tough.

Easy Vegetables

Toss some broccoli into your pasta that's boiling for a couple of minutes at the end. Then you bulk up your meal with healthy vegetables that are al dente along with your pasta! It doesn't get any easier than that!

clean up

As I cook I do dishes and so that way the only dishes that need to be washed are the one that are being used. It makes it easier and shorter time in the kitchen

Full flavor salad dressing alternatives

I recently tried a yogurt blue cheese dressing. It's delicious and tastes just like the full fat/calorie version at a fraction of the calories. The one I tried had only 35 calories per serving.

If you haven't tried it already...give yogurt dressings a try on your salads!

Easily remove an egg yolk

If you're like me and not supposed to eat the egg yolk (but love eggs), use a turkey baster. Take the rubber portion off, squeeze it, hold it over the yolk, and then stop squeezing. The suction will force the yolk (and only the yolk) into the handle. Voilą! Egg whites! :)

Looks so good I can taste it!

I find that I am a very visual person, I like colorful food...so when making meal plan to avoid the temptation of going out I make a visual meal plan calendar and then it is like punishment if I miss out on something that looks to good to give up.
sort of the you don't know what your missing until it is gone approach...well I see it and I know I will miss it emoticon
