When you think you are hungry, many times you are really thristy and are misreading your body's cues. Drink an 8 oz glass of water first. Great b/c staying hydrated is so important, and if you are then hungry you'll eat less b/c your stomach is full! :-)
At most grocery shops, produce, meat & dairy are the first depts. The problem (for me) was that I would pick up items from these sections & then get sidetracked reading labels & comparing prices in other areas, so my first items wouldnt stay cold. Now I shop 'backwards' & pick up cold items last
Be sure to eat breakfast everyday! Breakfast used to be my Kryptonite but I have gotten into the habit of eating it. It gets the metabolism jump started in the morning and you won't over eat at lunch because you won't be STARVING.
When I get hungry and it's not lunch or dinner time yet, I often eat a small piece of very dark chocolate (70% cacao !) which is easy to find here in Belgium.
