CONSCIOUS EATING

STOP AND THINK
Each time before I select something to eat I am asking myself these 3 questions before the food goes from my hand into my mouth.
1. Is this a healthy choice? why?
2. Am I hungry? or am I just thirsty?
3. Did I plan to eat this today or am I choosing this on a whim?

Coping with workplace temptations

The staffroom at work is always full of cakes, cookies and chocolates. I used to be the person who put everything away at the end of the day to prevent flies and mice having a midnight feast. Now I leave everything uncovered. Next day my appetite for sweet things has completely gone.

Snacking while driving

One of my biggest problems I use to have was, when I had to drive for an hour or more, I would snack on nuts or chips etc. to keep me focused or awake. I still munch but now I will get a cup of chipped or crushed ice and chew on that instead. The crunch is satisfying I get water and no calories!

What I measure.

I use the scale for one part of my weight loss success. I also use a tape measure to look at my inches. I check my body fat percentage with my trainer as another measurement.

Scheduling Success: "Pointing" your way to big wins

Make a list of the tasks you have to do and assign them a point value. Aim for a given number of points/day to be aware of your productivity. When you reach or surpass your point goal give yourself a reward. Assign a greater point value to difficult or boring tasks. Compete with yourself for fun

Need an afternoon pick-me-up? Apple versus Coffee

As you get to that no-man's-land between lunch and dinner, energy levels can get pretty low. Before you reach for that extra cup of coffee, try having an apple instead! Far more nutritious, much more energizing, and has only positive side effects!

Beat the Bordom

Eating a variety of different foods help shake up a meal, especially casseroles and one-dish meal. It is as easy as adding a side of vegetables, a salad or fruit, or maybe even a whole wheat roll. Same goes with fitness, cycle through several different types of routines every couple weeks.
