Jillian Michaels said on the Biggest Loser to vary your caloric intake: eat on the low end for two days, eat in the middle range for three days, eat on the high end (even going a little over) on two days. This keeps your body guessing. I did this all last week and lost 3.5 lbs!
I pack my lunch each night, usually when I'm cleaning up from dinner. That way, when I'm rushed in the morning, I can't forget to make a healthy lunch.
The best thing I was ever told was to think of my calories as a budget. Know how many you can have each day and before you eat something ask yourself if you can afford it. If it's worth the amount you have to spend and you have the calories eat it if not rethink it.
I was always taught to clean my plate so I wouldn't waste food. Then one day my husband asked me why it was less wasteful to use my body as a garbage can for food I didn't want or need. I have never, ever forgotten that. I can leave food I don't need on the plate now. I won't use my body as a garbag...
I pack my fruit & cheese snack the night before, ready to grab & go the next morning.
I pack an apple & banana or grapes and apple, whatever. But the point is I grab 2 fruit items and they are what I have as my morning snack & afternoon snack. I don't miss daily fruit servings that way! :)
Dr. Oz said this on one of his shows. He explained that the body will crave food, even if it is not officially "hungry." If you eat healthy, nutrient-rich foods, you will satisfy your body, and it will not crave high calorie, empty foods. It really hit a cord with me.

I'm most likely to make an unhealthy meal choice when I'm rushed or tired. To avoid this I set aside time to cook in large batches. Then I freeze meals in individual portion sizes. When I don't have time to make lunch or I'm too tired to cook dinner, I just pull something out of the freezer.
Of all of the tips I learned while losing weight, drinking my water at room temp was the most life-changing for me! I had been sipping my cold water all day until I discovered (learned from a seasoned dieter) that if I drink my water at room temp I could gulp it down in seconds. 2 litres of water ...
