I am motivated in knowing I have to account for every bite of food that I put in my mouth. If I cheat, I am cheating nobody but myself. I know I have to login to SparkPeople everyday to keep myself honest. If I have to skip days due to no access to the computer I will catch up when I get back to my computer.
Use a monthly calendar dedicated just to your health plan. I use mickey mouse stickers each time I meet a goal, write in minutes of exercise, etc. Just seeing the visual display of a whole month with all your accomplishments helps!
Before eating at night, stop on sparkpeople, check your food for the day, and check out some friends or blogs. If you have some spare calories, choose something and come back to log in food. Usually if I do this, I don't overeat and I get tired and feel fed by my spark buddies.

Sharing the cost of a trainer makes it affordable to have personalized attention. Plus you won't miss a work out because you won't to waste the money you've already paid on the trainer. Friends waiting for you keeps you accountable to show up (and accountable when out together at restaurants).
I'm one of those people who somehow must find a way around every rule. The more I am not supposed to do something the more I want to do it. That mindset goes triple for food. So I don't have food rules. I eat what I want as long as I'm not allergic to it.
