Walking with Teens

When my girls were teenagers, we would walk in the evenings. Not only was it a great "bonding" time but we challenged one another on how fast we could walk. Walking together seems to activate the talk "button" and it was a great sharing time.

Pushing it

When I don't feel like working out I push myself to at least start doing a workout, aiming for 1/2 my normal time. When I reach that goal I keep going, thinking since I already started, why not do another half? I always feel really good at what I've done by that point, why not feel even better?

Pushing Pass the Norm

I am learning that to see more results, I have to do a little more than I usually do. For example, I jog 3 miles about once a week. It didn't start that way. I started small jogging as far as I could go. But for each successive run, I would push myself a little further. What an accomplishment!

Pretend "Biggest Loser" is a Fairy Tale

I find that the Biggest Loser is pretty motivating but I think that it give us regular people false expectations. When people diet after watching that show, they expect to drop 8 pounds a week. That is unrealistic and unhealthy. My doctor HATES the show.

My secret is using the Word of God to keep me motivated!
for example I can do ALL things through Christ whom is my strength!, or Nothing is impossible for God, etc... so I look for these scripitues and I chew on them all day! untill they are part of my life.
