Buddy Up

emoticon Having a partner to exercise, create meals, and to bounce my successes and failures off, helps me stay positive even when things are not going as I would like them. Even a long distance partner is good because you can SKYPE one another. I love that I have my sister as my partner.

Engaging my pocketbook and friends in the goal

I need a goal to work for. I pick a race that I'm going to run and I PAY FOR IT as soon as possible. If I'm paying $50-$75 to run a half marathon, it is a constant motivator. I HATE to lose/waste money! I also tell my friends. If I tell them, I wont to go back and say I didn't make it.

Banish Black & White Thinking!!

I am the queen of 'failed diets' and since I joined SP I have found that getting rid of the all or nothing/black and white thinking has been one of my biggest helps. Its all about lifestyle not all or nothing!

find it easier to walk trail instead of track because the uneven trails workout more parts of my legs and has a change in landscape emoticon

Setting clothes out the night before

If I set my workout clothes out at night, I know in the morning I won't have to dig through my closet. Everything will be ready to go, and it motivates me to get up and do my workout!

Humor

I use humor for everything. Since I'm not coordinated, I make jokes about it as I am working out. Laughter burns calories too! I don't worry about how I look, and just keep going.

Don't focus on the numbers!

Set goals that don't focus on the scale or your clothing size. Sign up for a race or other event that is challenging but doable with proper training. Then train for it. The results are amazing!
