Honoring Yourself

Before you eat anything ask yourself 'are you honoring yourself by what you're getting ready to eat'. I have this on a sheet of paper in my kitchen, you may want to put it on your refrigerator or somewhere else that you'll look at.

a picture is worth a thousand words

i like to surround myself with motivational and inspirational images like pics and artwork like the ones i chose one week as a part of my fast break goals! i also like to go back to my goals/motivation posters and remind myself of the positive direction i am heading (even if i had a bad day).

Always Believe in Yourself

I need to tell myself that I can do this. I go to Spark People and read blogs. This helps me stay focused on my goals and also helps me accomplish what I set out to do. emoticon

Don't Borrow Trouble From Tomorrow

Don't worry about eating healthy every day this week. Focus on eating healthier now. Don't stress about a whole week of working out. Be active today. Don't borrow stress and trouble from tomorrow. Focus on today. Tomorrow will come soon enough.

Forgive Yourself!

Forgive yourself. Realize that you are human and that nobody is perfect! Know that you are worthy and strong. Treat yourself like you would a good friend!

Reach Out

Reaching out to my Spark Friends can totally change my attitude. When I'm having a rough time, I leave positive messages on their pages, blogs and feeds, and before you know it, I'm feeling great! Not only that, but I give them a boost to their day, too.

Baby Steps

Taking on goals in baby steps is helping me stay positive. When you try to take on a huge goal all at once, it can be overwhelming. Celebrate the small victories before you worry about the bigger ones.

Don't expect perfection

I found that if I expect perfection in exercise, nutrition, how much water I consume, or whatever my goal is I tend to blow the whole day if I slip up or make a wrong food choice. Expect that some days will be better than others and keep moving forward!

Thank the bad thoughts for sharing, and then KICK THEM OUT!

I have NO control over the tons of thoughts that pop in my head. I DO have control over which ones I "invite in to sit and stay a while". When the thoughts in my head are negative, I say "thanks for sharing" and turn my back on them: they are not my "friends" with whom I want to share mind time.

Don't Invite Stress In

I do not phone, email, text, etc. family and people having a stressful time.
Wait til they contact me. They will be more personable.
I don't need to jump in to "help save the day" getting in their face. Don't go looking for real or stupid stress that will result in emotional eating.
