When I bike on my indoor cycle I listen to super upbeat music. When my momentum really gets going and I am in the zone I yell out positive affirmations, such as: "I am good enough." "I deserve great health." "I love myself." "I can do this." "I love to sweat." It really pumps me up and I feel great. My dogs must think I am crazy. LOL, LOL
Occasionally I find myself comparing my body and weight loss to others. Rather than getting depressed and giving up, I take a step back and focus on how far I've come. This journey is for me and every step forward is a personal success.
When people around me start to emphasize the negative, especially about things they can do nothing about, I'll stop the cycle by saying "I'll put that on my list of things to worry about." It helps put whatever it is into perspective, and lets me focus on whatever is more important to me.
If your not happy it is not all about the weight, get to know yourself while losing weight. Think about how you got here and what you want to change. You will realise that when you think about it weight is not the only thing that you want to change. Try to concur your fears and you will feel like you can do anything, which includes losing weight!
Once upon a time, I would speak harshly to myself. When looking in the mirror or when making a not so wise food choice. Now, I don't judge my looks, and if I happen to goof by say, eating a donut treat someone brought to the office, I simply do better by working out or eating a few extra fresh veggies at the next meal. It has helped me become a more relaxed individual, and I can enjoy and live more in the moment.
At the point when my clothes loosen up on me and then frankly started to swim, I faced what was I to do with the clothing I had that were part of what is no longer.
Just as toxins in food are bad for you, so are toxic (negative and unkind) people. My daughter recently said it best on her FB page before unfriending some very unkind people: "I'm making some changes in my live, and if you don't hear from me, one of those changes might be you." To become and stay positive, make a conscious effort to seek out positive people and things that will make you feel good and put a smile on your face. Be kind to others and be kind yourself.
Just like the importance of our bodies being flexible in order to deal with the day to day movements, it's also important to be flexible with plans and tasks. Life happens. You need to look at everything that comes up and decide that nothing that happens is good or bad. It just is.
Remember, two steps forward and one step back is still one step forward. As long as you keep moving forward, you're winning. No one is perfect -- forgive yourself, learn from your experience, and soldier onward.
