Consistency

You'll get anything accomplished as long as you are consistent. Weightloss...be consistent with your calorie reduction and your exercise.

Burn calories without exercising.

Don't avoid any physical activities - we all know "use stairs not elevators", but there is more! For example: If anyone needs something - you can go after it.

Keep moving!

I do lunges and squats and walk in place while sorting, folding and doing laundry, I walk in place while doing the dishes. When I walk the dogs, we play soccer as well...Border Collies can never get enough activity! I also take the stairs twice when doing chores! It all adds up!! emoticon

Other Goals

I put my daily task list in the other goals feature of sparkpeople. This way, I am able to check them off as I go. It helps keep me motivated to see how much I get accomplished. And I get sparkpoints for scrubbing the toilet emoticon

Stay On Track Calendar

I love the Stay On Track Calendar. It gives me a monthly view that not only shows me days I've forgotten to track, but also helps me identify problems - like, if I'm eating too much, or not exercising enough on the weekends!

No Shame in Loving the Points

When I'm not seeing the results I want on the scale, I depend on the points I get to make me feel like I've accomplished something! Maybe I didn't lose a pound, but by trying to get as many points as possible I know I'm doing something right. Plus, trophies!

Overcoming emotional issues

The anonymity of SparkPeople has freed me to identify deep issues that were obstacles to getting healthy. As I read stories of members, I frequently find a link to myself. It is through my responses to these members through blog postings that I have found the freedom to explore my own issues.

Nutrition Tracker

The Nutrition Tracker helps you stay on track by recording EVERYTHING you eat, that includes licks, tastes and bites.......and it also breaks down where you calories are coming from.

Logging in and Really USING SparkPeople

I find that using Sparkpeople more than just once in the day helped me maintain and lose my weight! I know there are times when we can't always do that but when I log in more, I feel more accountable of my day.
