Involve more than just your family , Share with your community about a favorite hobby or pastime EX: I Share that I am doing this for myself ,my wife ,my family and my HORSE. I have happy horse on my spark page and mention how my horse will be much happier toting me up and down the trails.
I lay out my workout clothes for the next day where I can't miss them in the morning. It's hard to blow off doing at least 10 minutes of exercise when the clothes are there staring at me first thing in the morning, and that carries over to staying on track in other areas all day!
I put my daily task list in the other goals feature of sparkpeople. This way, I am able to check them off as I go. It helps keep me motivated to see how much I get accomplished. And I get sparkpoints for scrubbing the toilet
I love the Stay On Track Calendar. It gives me a monthly view that not only shows me days I've forgotten to track, but also helps me identify problems - like, if I'm eating too much, or not exercising enough on the weekends!
When I'm not seeing the results I want on the scale, I depend on the points I get to make me feel like I've accomplished something! Maybe I didn't lose a pound, but by trying to get as many points as possible I know I'm doing something right. Plus, trophies!
The anonymity of SparkPeople has freed me to identify deep issues that were obstacles to getting healthy. As I read stories of members, I frequently find a link to myself. It is through my responses to these members through blog postings that I have found the freedom to explore my own issues.
I find that using Sparkpeople more than just once in the day helped me maintain and lose my weight! I know there are times when we can't always do that but when I log in more, I feel more accountable of my day.
