One thing I've learned is to eat SOMETHING every couple of hours... Not an entire meal - just a little something. Perhaps a handful of grapes, some almonds, crunch some carrots, etc. Eating something ever couple hours (so healthy snack between meals!!!) boosts your metabolism.
Before I got into sparkpeople, I just wore XL or XXL clothes as a blanket "solution" to the problem. Now I always look for clothes that are a great fit, and not just bigger than what I really am. This has helped me at the very least maintain my weight loss, because of course if I gain too much weight the new clothing will be unusable in public. I've stalled out on the exercise and weight loss, but I haven't gone backwards.
I find that when I don't get enough sleep, I am much less successful at losing weight. Being tired causes me to make poorer choices in food. I am tired and don't feel as great as I could and choose comfort foods when I know I shouldn't, and lose sight of my goals/motivation. Being tired also causes me to be more negative emotionally, which again leads to doubting myself, comfort foods or snacks that I know I don't need. Get your 8 hours of sleep!
hi,i have been hypnotized many times by professionals and to myself and my friends. I lost interest and used it recently to help fix some of my many imperfections. you tube has many to offer weight loss, sleep ,stress reduction and increased confidence.
It's no secret that fad diets don't work! Don't waste your time or your money. I sure did, and where did it get me? Thin for like, a hot minute! Then fat again. That's where it got me!! Your already on Spark. That is a start. Now you gotta change your lifestyle. Exercise and eat right. It's the only way, people!!! Tell all your friends!!
I always try to eat before leaving my house, and take a full bottle of fresh/cold water. If you have a protein shake or meal, (something healthy), before leaving the house, you will be less tempted to indulge while at the mall food court and can avoid eating out at a restaurant where you might not know the nutritional info.
If you don't leave the house everyday, get up and get dressed including putting your shoes on. You will probably find that you are more active and get more done. It also makes it more difficult to nap. You might even feel like getting some extra exercise in!
No matter how big or small it is, if I eat or drink it, I track it. At first I just ate whatever and tracked it later to see what I consumed. Now I plan ahead and track my food BEFORE I eat it, so I can see whether I can afford to eat everything I planned or if it will be outside of my nutritional goals. I can then adjust if necessary before it's too late. :)
Here is a little trick. If you have something in the house that is pulling you to it - change the package. I found that if I take the granola bar/cookie/trial mix - what ever it is that pulls you and place it in a plastic bag it does not have much of a pull any more. Just get rid of the fancy packaging (you can always cut out the calorie info and place it in the bag).
I have a big glass of water least 16 oz. in every room living room ,kitchen , bedroom so I have no excuse to not drink it .When I leave the house no meter where I go I have a reusable 32 oz. sport bottle with me .At the end of the day is adding up to about 1 gallon in a half.
