On days I can't fit a "workout" in, I use my daily chores around the house as my exercise, such as extra trips up and down the stairs putting things away, squats when folding clothes, you get the picture. Instead of trying to be efficient, and carrying multiple items to put away, make a separate trip for each item. Walking out to our mailbox or feeding our outside animals helps get some steps in as well. Just use whatever you have to get even a little exercise in your day. It all helps.
When I know I will be out and about-like going to a cross country or track meet, etc., where I know there will not be healthy food choices, I fix something healthy for myself and bring it along, so I will not be tempted by junk food.
