Funnels

Cut off (about 1/3 of the way down) a 2 liter Coke bottle. It makes a great funnel for putting bird seed in the feeder or other funnel uses. Costs no money and works great.

Apples

If apples become mushy, peel, core & slice them. Place the apple slices in a microwavable dish. Sprinkle lightly with brown sugar & cinnamon. Cover and microwave on high for 3-5 min. until your desired degree of tenderness is obtained. Serve warm. (for dessert add FF Cool Whip)

Saving gas and time on errands

Gas prices are so high and I live way out in the country. When I do go (and have 6-10 stops) I make my lists and give each stop a number so I will not "back track" across town wasting time and gas. Try it, you will like it!

Raw vs hard boiled eggs

If you are unsure which egg in the refrigerator is hard boiled and which is raw, spin each on the counter. Raw eggs will not spin, but hard boiled eggs will spin and spin.

Stew Meat Cost

Never pay high prices for stew meat. Wait until they have roasts (I prefer boneless) on sale. Take them home, cut them in the size pieces you want for your stew, wrap and freeze. It is the same thing and will save you money.

Bread closures

If you lose your wire "twistee" on your loaf of bread, get all the air out that you can, then twist the sack close to the bread top and turn the top down over the rest of the loaf.

Trash bag liners

When you open a new bag of liners, take several and put in the bottom of the trash can. When you take a full bag of trash out, a new trash bag is ready to line the container.

Staying "honest" with food amounts

To keep myself "honest" I occasionally measure that tablespoon of peanut butter before putting it on the toast and measure that 1/2 c. of vegetable before putting it on my plate.
