When I'm tempted with something that doesn't fit into my plan, instead of telling myself I "can't" have it, I tell myself I "can"...but that I can only have one, or only a small piece. This way I don't feel cheated and I don't raid the pantry later looking for something.
I bought a Stanley food container (like a thermos) that keeps food hot or cold for 12 hours. At night I put 1/2 cup of steel cut oats in it, and add 1 cup of boiling water, and close the container. In the morning I have a no-fuss breakfast, which comes in handy for mornings when I'm running late!
I have started using cayenne on just about everything: popcorn, rice, any meat, soup, potatoes, even on apples. It adds a little spice, but not really any flavor. I find that somehow this "tricks" my taste buds into forgetting there isn't any salt on my food, and I don't have regrets later!
